Rob Zahabi from Rides by Kam shows how to prepare sheet metal for filler or paint.
Step 1: Apply rust treatment (00:26)
As soon as you get a muscle car or resto back from the sandblasters, hit it with a 3M™ sander and a 3M™ Cubitron™ II Hookit™ Clean Sanding Abrasive Disc 737U 31371 to get the finish you need to apply rust treatment.
Step 2: After sheet metal work, remove rust treatment (01:08)
Once you finish your custom fabrication and sheet metal work, whether it’s six months or a year later, remove the rust treatment with the sander, then take the vehicle straight into the spray booth and hit it with etch prime.
Best practices for the orbital sander (01:25)
It’s all about consistency. Start at one end of the panel, and by the time you get to the other end, you want it to look consistent and even like you've done it all in one pass.
Traditional sandpaper on the orbital blunts it out, it doesn’t get the surface - whereas the Cubitron™ II self-sharpens as you go along the steel and helps you bite into the surface so you can follow with filler or primer.
Pro tip: You’re only as good as your very first step (02:08)
The very first step is the steel stage, and if you don’t hit the steel and treat it the right way, anything in the later stages won’t be right and will just fall off. That's why Cubitron™ II sandpaper is a good choice. It's designed to cut into the steel and get sharper as you go along, which helps to bite in with fillers or primers.
Important note:
There are of course many factors and variables that can affect an individual repair, so the technician and repair facility need to evaluate each specific application and repair process, including relevant vehicle, part and OEM guidelines, and determine what is appropriate for that repair.

atarted to watch then the blasting crap noise so I turned it off, eliminate the crap noise , and resend and I will like as well as many others that like hearing and do not need the crap noise,

I thought you would use epoxy in this type of Restorations or is it better to use at etch primer in your opinion.

We do use Epoxy PPG 410-48248 over our bare steel then body work over that

OSPHO 1275 is a brand of what is called Metal Prep ... its a mild solution of Phosphoric Acid that turns any rust into an Oxide that is neutral and could be painted over but its best to do a final sand before applying any filler, primer, paint ... I make my own by buying Food Grade Phosphoric Acid from Amazon and diluting it with water.. because its 80% cheaper and if you use a stronger solution it will convert all the rust on a rusty part to an oxide and eat away rust from things like threads of a bolt... kinda looks like the part has been sandblasted and is gray... but it gets into every pit and crevice and converts the rust to an oxide that is safe to paint over... Rust Mort by SEM is also a great product like this but its more for treating rust.

Zippy TheChicken we use a product called anti OX and to seal we use Easy Pho’s

@@ridesbykam7055 MSD for Anti Ox says it contains PHOSPHORIC ACID 25% to 30% .... its all the same its phosphoric acid... stronger to get rid of the rust and weaker to protect :o)
