My high school just finished performing Guys and Dolls. It was last week, and I played Sarah Brown. This was my first ever play, and when I tell you I BAWLED my eyes out once it was over because I loved it so much, I’m telling the truth. This play means the world to me now, and Sarah and Sky will forever hold a special place in my heart

My uncle is Herschel Sparber, Big Jule in the 1992 revival broadway production. I can honestly say this is one of the best productions off-broadway that I've seen. You channeled the 1992 cast in excellent form, particularly Nathan Lane, Faith Prince and Walter Bobby. You kids are mad talented! Hats off to those who play Nathan, Adelaide, Sky and Harry the Horse in particular! And Nicely? You are a born star. Broadway is calling, sir! You guys should all be proud! I'm gonna nudge Herschel to watch this!

Hi Cy---I was just getting ready to email the Ridge Theatre Dept. about those neon signs. Did you guys rent those? I am directing a high school production---we open in March---and I love the neon and all your sets. Wondering if you built them or rented them...thanks---Carrie Francis
@cywestbrook74482 жыл бұрын
@@carriefrancis8839 We built the neon signs from scratch. Our set crew designed them, cut out the frames, and routed out the paths in the wooden frames. I was responsible for embedding 12v neon LED strips inside those paths and soldering them all together on the back. If you guys want to do a similar thing, I'd be happy to give you advice on the process! For context, I was also responsible for the electronics for the illuminated blocks around the proscenium for Matilda and the linear effect light tubes for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.

@cywestbrook74482 жыл бұрын
@@carriefrancis8839 I wasn't involved in the initial design and cutting of the wood, since that was the set crew's job, but I know my job of cutting, soldering, and wiring all the LED strips together took about 1-2 weeks. As to where they are now, I was actually trying to find them the other day in the closet we put them in, but they weren't there - I'm worried someone might have thrown them out, which would be a shame since I wanted to take one home before graduating.

@@itsfareedaa4346 oh my gosh that's so cool break a leg!! Okay the best things I learned from going to auditions are 1. Don't be nervous. I know it's super nerve-wracking and everyone is nervous but you should do your best not to think about how nervous you are because it'll just make it worse haha and 2. Telling the story is more important than singing perfectly. If you miss the high note, but you don't apologize on your face, and you convey the story in everything you do, the panel will consider you way more than if you seem nervous and like you don't know how to tell a story. Hope this helped! Break a leg! :D

Huh??? The actor playing Big Julie was WONDERFUL, especially with the complex fight and dance choreography, and staying in character no matter what was happening. I donno what your problem is, unless it's blatant racism.... and btw, definitely not 50 non-featured males in the show, less than 50 people in the entire cast and half the "guys" were played by women with their hair up.

It's a real pity about the audio though, I see the cast have got their mini microphones on, but it's not helping at all. The sound person, Dallas Harvey, isn't up to the task, the microphones are not working at all. The cast are having to shout to get their lines out.
