I don’t know why Ridgid doesn’t get it. There are many of us that are life time Ridgid users. All we want is them to make more tools. Not the same damn tools over and over.

This is why, as someone who generally does seek out robust precision tools for the workshop and have grown accustomed to Bosch and Makita quality, I must admit my eyes keep wandering over toward Ryobi for small hobby projects, cleaning, backyard ventures, even camping. They are actually innovating in a surprising way. Say what you will about Ryobi, they’ve got some interesting ideas and dont seem to be slowing down..
@kwilliams2239

I'm similar. I have Bosch and Festool for the heavy duty tools that I use constantly (drills, drivers, sanders...). Ryobi has some really cool tools and they're cheap enough that I buy tools that I seldom use, like a caulk gun (don't laugh, it's great) and even a recip-saw. I bought their 18ga brad and 23ga pin nailers last year. They're very nice tools. Ryobi isn't what it once was, though I'll stick with the top tier tools for the most commonly used tools or where I need precision.

I agree I love my ridged tools but I would like to see them expand the range rather than minor updates of the tools they already have. I will say though that at least they make the new stuff backwards compatible with batteries, if they didn't do this I would have to drop them because I'm not carrying 4 different battery systems on my van.

Anderson county, SC resident here....Gaffney is about a 1 hour drive from Anderson. Yes, some people may not be willing to make that commute, which is unfortunate but such jobs are plentiful in this growing part of the country. And yes, the NEW TTI facility is impressive, much nicer than the 50 year old textile mill it used to be located in.

The rumor started because the facility that's closing down has to follow the WARN act which means they have to give advance notice of closing down. The employees do have the option of relocation but technically they could all refuse and get laid off. I'm sure a few will take the pink slip but most will relocate. Below is an in depth explanation of the WARN act The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a federal law that requires employers with 100 or more employees to give their employees and state and local representatives 60 days' notice before a mass layoff or plant closing. The mass layoff must affect at least 50 employees at a single site of employment

I purchased a Rigid Combo Kit because of the "Life Time Tool and Battery Warranty" , but when my Batteries died they said they are not covered. Then when another tool purchased years later broke (I own a lot of Ridgid Tools) they would not honor the warranty.
@ToolReviewZone
@ToolReviewZone 9 ай бұрын
Just asking, but did you register them within the allotted time period. I think it's 3 months
@DKWalser
@DKWalser 9 ай бұрын
When did you buy the kit? For several years, the batteries had their own warranty that was different from the Liftime Service Agreement that covered the tools. That changed, IIRC, about 2 years ago. Now, both the batteries and the tools are covered by the LSA. Ridgid's prior policy made sense. Batteries are consumables.

It's about 45-55 minutes between Gaffney and Anderson (assuming good traffic). It's 20-25 mins from Gaffney to Greer. Greenville News did seem to get it wrong though, because the article made it sound like the jobs were lost. This is not that, the building closes, but the jobs still exist.

Well Clint...facebook has been the home of the world's largest medical school (Facebook University School of Medicine) for the past 4 years. It seems nearly everyone on social media has a medical degree from there. And it looks like reddit has opened their engineering program, as there are lots of engineering experts who are posting as "recent grads." People always talk about the fake news. Maybe the news isn't fake. The fake is in calling the crap on social media "news". It pays to do one's own research, as you have done here, if you want to get the "real news." Decades ago I worked with a guy who lived about 80 miles from work. That is a one way commute of at least an hour and a half. He had to have two cars in use at all times, not just to reduce the wear and mileage being accumulated but also just to be able to have one be in for service. I can’t imagine those workers wanting to go through something similar. Before that job, I worked at another place that relocated about twelve miles away. They set up a bus service for workers who were used to walking to work. That ended up having its own issues (can’t be late, can’t leave work for an emergency, etc).

Thanks for clearing that all up. RIDGID needs their house back, HART has well out grown the RIDGID TTI Facility.. That's it. Walmart is selling the crap outta HART tools. I find them in videos all the time. I wouldn't buy them, but..... RYOBI's the bottom of the barrel for what I would spend money on. That being said, I'm on target to add RIDGID, DeWalt, and FLEX to the arsenal this year. If RYOBI would stop coming out with cool DIY tools, I'd jedision the majority of the platform, but if you do your homework, you can find tools worth buying with that neongreenyellow plastic. 😎🤓🤠
