Ok guy, there's a small glitch in your video. The Cloud 9 yacht you showed isn't the Cloud 9 yacht that is on sale. That yacht is now called Andrea which used to be called Lady Jorgia, which used to be called Cloud 9 built by CRN yachts. It's 74 meters. Cloud 9, which used to be called Infinity, was built by Oceanco. It's 89 meters. Other than that, cool vid, but you left out Kismet which would've been tied for 2nd on the list because it lists for 200 million USD. 95 meters or 312 feet. Another Lurssen yacht.

It doesn’t matter how big they are, Yacht cannot have more than 12 guests or it will fall under the category of passenger ship, not luxury yacht, and has to comply with SOLAS. That’s per regulation. If you are talking about the total number including the crew, then yes, but crews are not guests. They are not allowed to mingle in the guest areas other than when serving the guests.

To be honest I think that you may be splitting hairs. In that yes you are right, but at no point does the narrator stipulate that these are not in the passenger ships category (and perhaps the list of types of passenger ships should be updated to include these larger yachts, since they are not ferries or cruise ships, or ocean liners). "Once a vessel carries more than 12 passengers, even if it is being used as a private yacht, it is considered to be a passenger ship and has to comply with the SOLAS convention (Safety of Life at Sea) set out by the IMO (International Maritime Organization)." But the water is indeed muddy, since if an Ocean liner like the Queen Mary 2 for some reason only has 11 passengers on board, It ceases to be a passenger ship, which is ludicrous. So the definition should go by capacity instead of actual people on board.

Nannies, baby sitters, secretaries, body guards etc... are declared as “Staff” and they are not considered guests, Luxury yachts can only keep it’s category as long as they meet their number of guest to 12. They cannot make a simple mistake of saying they have 14 guests. That exact use of word is critical. Splitting hair”. Not really. That comment was not argumentative or reason to start a debate, but for information purposes. As I look at it, the video is not just for entertainment, but also to provide information to the audience, and my comment is to add additional clarification and redirection to the audience. How many people do you think actually get their information from youtube? A lot!! How many people do you think about the 12 guest limitation for a luxury yacht category? How many people do you think, know it now, after reading this post? When a person wants to arm himself by information, he needs to know what it is, not what it should. “Should” is based on someone’s opinion and perception, and requires more concurrence and validation, “is” is based on facts. But if you want to start a debate, it’s up to you. You yourself probably doesn’t know and just googled it after reading my post just to start an argument, so you can thank me later.

@@Me-fm9zk Perhaps I perceived your original comment incorrectly, To me, you were trying to say that these vessels if they carry more than 12 guests etc than they can no longer be called Yachts (whether it has the word Super or Mega in front or not), in any way shape or form. When they can still be called Yachts since that is their classification. Yes as you correctly point out, they are to be considered passenger ships (in regards to legal requirements) and so must comply with the SOLAS convention as set out by the International Maritime Organisation.

This is only half correct, the next code up above 12 passengers is the PYC code (passenger yacht code) which regulates 13-36 passengers. This is considered a yacht.

One single gigaton is equivalent to 10,000 fully loaded aircraft carriers. Judging by this, I find it hard to believe that Project X has a gross tonnage in excess of 2,500 gigatons. (GT stands for gross tons and is the unit of measure for the metric of gross tons, the GT at the end of wherever this guy got his info stands for gross tons, not gigaton.)
