A US intelligence assessment into the death of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny found that Putin didn’t directly order his killing. Alexei Navalny’s February death in an Arctic penal colony prompted a new wave of sanctions targeting Russia’s economy.
US intelligence agencies determined that Putin likely didn’t order Navalny to be killed, the Wall Street Journal reported. The finding deepened the mystery about the circumstances of the death of Putin’s opponent and a leading anti-Kremlin figure. The assessment didn't dispute Putin’s culpability for Navalny’s death, but rather found he probably didn’t order it at that moment.

Oh my God. He was in prison for a long time, he could have been killed a long time ago. And even before that, I don’t see any point in the Russian government doing anything at all with Navalny since he has lost a lot of audience in recent years (internal conflicts with the opposition), many who were on his side grew up and simply became neutral, he had little power or influence in last years (He seemed very faded compared to even his fellow opposition members). Of course, he is an oppositionist, but in Russia there were many of them even without Navalny and they are all alive and not even in prison, for example Svetov, Katz, all sorts of Radio Dozhd, ECHO of Moscow and so on. (the latter, like Navalny himself, were sponsored from abroad, by the way) While as a prisoner, Navalny behaved against the rules of the prison, deliberately ran into conflict with the prison authorities, did not show up for roll call, pretended to be crazy, refused food and went on hunger strike, lost weight, and was already taken to the hospital a couple of times. He himself proudly declared this, those who are in prison with him, the prison guards, spoke about this too. He simply began to pose as a revolutionary even there, despite his already poor state of health. If people love conspiracy theories so much. Well, I can play this game too then. Navalny was clearly about the pro west and was sponsored by the west, behind him there were a lot of lies and theft of timber (is it worth trusting a lying politician when he is not even an official politician yet with such a baggage of events?). One could even assume that people from west poisoned him since he is in prison, he will not get out of there for a long time, he himself is a pitiful sight, information can be extracted from him, in fact, he is no longer needed like a used toy, and killing him can sow confusion as a martyr, which is beneficial to Western intelligence services, increasing indignation within the country. You see, I can do conspiracy theories too.
