Fun. Yes, but so easy to get carried away. First you're just feelin' it out. Then, you are getting brave & excited. Then, you are just having fun with the power band (the rpm sweet spot). And next thing, you are all balled up on the side of the track trying to get the wind back that just got knocked out of you, wondering if something is broken...but it's too early to tell for sure. Gotta love it though!👍

Best parking spot right next to the burger stand. Miss my '86. Nice to see someone actually putting some throttle into it. Scariest thing for me was not being able to slow it down. Noticed everyone getting out of your way too. They're no fun.

MotoGoProVids If you ever get a chance to ride a CR500 AF, I suggest you jump all over opportunity. I've never riden a bike before that felt that perfect, the balance of just stupid power with a lightweight and great chassis setup is one I'll never forget.

I've never ridden one unfortunately, but I used to wring out CR125s all day long. Those things were mopeds until you hit the powerband. I've heard that you don't need the 500 to be in the powerband to haul ass because it doesn't really matter. But that's just what I've heard. I would love a chance to find out.

@ChambersHonda83
@ChambersHonda83 6 жыл бұрын
+Timo Hacks you do realise that the 500's were made in a separate race class when they were still around? So they weren't in the same races as 250's. Also if you think that then you have never ridden a 500. They are a lot faster than a 250. But really at the end of the day, Cc's mean almost nothing. If you're fast on a bike it doesn't matter what you're on. Take villopoto for example in the 2008 des nations. He holeshot and beat all the 450's. In both races. And rides like that have happened multiple times over the years. So, back to my original point, ride what makes you smile the most. Don't take it too seriously.

On tight mx tracks, the 250s might turn similar lap times. But on anything open, there's no comparison. The 500s were king of the dunes, and pretty much still are.

A great ride? Sorry but all the panic revs, no full throttle, leaning it over in the turns and roosting it out... You must really be from the 4stroke generation of bucking ponies compared to a wild bull. Really glad though to hear the end of how much you loved it and really want one. Hope + I'm sure it gave you some appreciation of what it took to race those monsters back in the day when they weren't considered monsters as it was what we had. Hope my truth of not being a great ride doesn't offend as I try telling many 4stroke riders to practice on one of those and then back on your 4stroke will feel 10 times as easy. Also did respect your brains to not attempt 1rst time to try and fly it like a 4stroke. As we screamed against 2strokes are dead, it is nice to see newer Gen. getting back to appreciate there will never be a day that 2stroke sound and raw power will not turn heads and die out. I'll still give it nice vid. even without hearing it wideopen at high rpm's around the whole track....2strokes forever!
@ChambersHonda83
@ChambersHonda83 4 жыл бұрын
Reading this comment shows me how little you actually know about 500cc EVO motocross bikes. They are all bottom end. They aren't meant to be revved out ike a 125. Go to any evo race where all the best 500cc/2stroke racers are, and you'll see that the top riders are riding these bikes at a much lower rpm than they would a 125. Get your facts straight. Also ever consider this is a pristene mint condition bike that isn't mine, so maybe i didn't want to go balls out racepace and end up throwing it down the track and ruining it? I also think you failed to consider I never said i was an amazing world class rider. I'm not, im average. So chill. Don't like it? Don't watch it.
