Probably a first for a Sherman going over speed bumps haha! That's so cool though that big 76 on the m4a1 I'd love a ride in it! Never been in one yet and it's on my thing's to do list definitely!

It's a truck engine ; a Detroit Diesel. The owner didn't wanted to be bothered with maintaining an old original engine.
@RD25644 жыл бұрын
The Detroit Diesel 8V92 runs nice, I could tell it wasn't using the original Continental 875 right from the start because it was sounding and running much too smooth.

@PanzerInsight4 жыл бұрын
It's the 76w the E8 indication stands for the HVSS Suspension it has nothing to do with the gun.

@@PanzerInsight Ah thanks. I wasn't going by the S/N but muzzle break, I thought 76mm had them.
@justforever964 жыл бұрын
All your World of Tanks players who think you know everything about tanks because of what they call them in your game. M4A1E8 refers to the suspension. An E8 could have either a 75 or a 76mm. A regular M4A1 could have either gun, without the suspension. Any M4A-anything could be fitted with either gun. M4A_E2 means heavy armor, could have either gun. M4_E8 means HVS suspension, could have either gun. This gun looks like it has a 76mm muzzle brake (not break) because it is a 76mm. It is a regular M4A1-76(W), as opposed to the M4A1E8-76(W) (or an M4A1-75(W). Just because they chose the E8 version as representative of the 76mm-gunned late-war M4 doesn't mean that it was the only 76mm M4.

Im surprised they let him on the road with those metal tracks. Most places wont let you without rubber track pads.
@tvnshack5 жыл бұрын
Actually, metal tracks are easy on paved road because they slide. Rubber pads rip off the asphalt when the tank turns, because the pads adhere, not the steel pads.

Who puts the easy 8 gun on 76w??
@justforever964 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? The "Easy 8", or M4A1E8 refers to the Horizontal Volute Suspension, a new system of suspension with better riding characteristics. It was available on M4A1s with either 75 or 76mm gun, namely the M4A1E8-75(W) and M4A1E8-76(W). The 76mm was used on numerous different variants of the M4, including the A1 and A1E8. There is not "Easy 8" and "76W". An E8 could be a 76W or a 75W, a regular M4A1, A2, A3 or A4 could all be fitted with either an 75 or 76mm gun. The E8 exclusively refers to the suspension type, has nothing to do with the gun.

Too bad the original engine is not powering it...
@tvnshack5 жыл бұрын
It's a pain to keep these old engines up. They often refuse to start. They must be taken fully down to replace a spark plug. The owner much preferred to use a turnkey power plant, is a Detroit Diesel timed at 450HP. Restoring the wreck that this tank was originally took enough time and money.
@rb67mustang4 жыл бұрын
@@tvnshack I think it's awesome and it's even better with a modern powerplant. I would like to see more like that in the US. I know they were not used in battle in the US, but they were made here.

If this is a M4A1 76 then the cannon is wrong because this 76 tank version doesn't has a muzzle breaker in the cannon
@gadget19k765 жыл бұрын
actually they started installing muzzle breaks towards the end of the war on the 76mm guns. Towards the very end of the war some tank companies would have a very diverse selection of tanks with some having smooth muzzles and others having muzzle tread caps and a few having breaks. The same for the tank commander’s .30 cal, those where a late war installation with some units.

The most Mobile Tank I've ever seen. The way I look on those Alleyways, the Sherman is completely narrow and fast compared to the German Heavy Tanks that have a hard time to take sharp turns like that and going through narrower ways.
