BART is a wormhole. You enter in one place, and emerge in a different world. Different weather, different plants, different architecture, different language sometimes. I often have dreams that take place in BART environments.

Yep, the fully washable interior was one of the main reason why they chose these trains. The old trains were originally designed with carpets and could not be washed. They reeked for years before BART finally retired them.

Man I miss the BART trains. Might have to go back to ride the “fleet of the future” cars. Awesome video.

OMG! As a Train subway rider from NYC who rides the NYC MTA Transit.. Those new Bart trains look sick man.. The outside is alright. But the inside.. Jesus.. Makes our trains look silly.. Especially those LA Metro Trains..
@StrollwithMe13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the trains are quite nice and they look like they can be cleaned, but as someone who has lived in NYC i can say its way easier to get around with your subway system than with BART. BART stops running at midnight so you can get stranded if you dont plan well, with only a few buses or an expensive uber ride to many locations.
@ChariotManGaming853 жыл бұрын
@@StrollwithMe1 Yea is definitely easy to get around here in NYC. But look at those trains 🤦🏾♂️.. And we're the only city that has 24hour trains running but on the flip side. There's always track work and delays..It basically runs very slow. . But you see what I mean.

As visitors from England, we used the BART To get to and fro from the Airport to Market Street. Compares very well with the London Underground if not as extensive. However, it's nowhere near as much fun as the Cable Cars! Unbelievable how steep those SF streets are!

Yeah, BART is more of an S-bahn with subway frequencies. Or I guess you could call it on Overground type of service. In SF the Muni Metro and the trolleys are more useful for local trips.

As someone from Hong Kong who has friends in San Francisco, I honestly find this pretty impressive. Americans really should know how efficient, environment-friendly, and clean trains can do compared to cars. If trains are to be running everywhere around the country again, that would reduce emissions by quite a great degree. The poor people will need no worry about having no car to drive, and others can go as far as they want without dealing with the traffic or horrible drivers. Trains here in Hong Kong somehow got too efficient that I have to rely on trains wherever I travel, that's why I feel very home sick when I was at Texas visiting my cousin. P.S.: for every minute trains here are late, the rail operator would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in the form of free tickets, thats why trains are never late here.
@vamonosraza4361 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately our "leaders" do not want to improve on our public transportation because they rely on making too much money on gas and vehicles (both Huge economies here). I ride public transportation almost every day. It is very efficient for my needs, however I am also ashamed of how much it is neglected here by our government.

@TohaBgood2 Жыл бұрын
@@redhopster It depends. The Bay Area is extremely train friendly. So is NYC. Chicagoans also love their L. It's true on average on a national scale. But at least the Bay Area taxpayers are willing to constantly tax referenda to build more and more transit. Despite all of our whining, our rail network is constantly expanding and adding frequency. BART has doubled in size from the original system. They add new extensions all the time.

@StrollwithMe12 жыл бұрын
Hi plutoniumfy, yes it's generally safe and there are plenty of solo travelers riding that route. At night, just be mindful that the trains stop at midnight and start again in the early morning hours. During those hours its just the bus or Uber/Lyft. Have a good trip!

Yep, BART is completely fine and even quite nice during the daylight hours/commute. Do not ride at night. If you ride ends after 8-9pm then just take a Lyft or an Uber. Sadly, they only keep it clean and safe during the commute hours.

Good question, when I first started i tried using a smartphone gimbal and people definitely gave me weird looks and a few people said stuff. Especially nowadays in SF its not so good to draw a lot of attention with big camera equipment, so although it would be nice to record better quality video with a mirrorless, I think the discreetness of the pocket 2 is a big benefit. Im usually in and out of peoples lives after a few seconds so the few people who do mind generally just cover their faces.

All that's missing is passengers. How sad. What's wrong with people? They'd rather pay high prices for gasoline and pollute the air. Rapid transit to the airport and nobody rides it. Last time I visited San Francisco was right before BART was extended to the airport. Getting from the airport to a hotel in San Francisco required a long, expensive, uncomfortable shuttle van ride with tons of traffic.
@StrollwithMe1 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, San Francisco is going through some changes - ridership is down for downtown since all the tech companies have gone remote. I filmed this more than a year ago so it's more crowded now, but I'm guessing they will reduce the number of trains because far fewer people are riding. Most seem to prefer Uber/Lyft since it gets them to their destination faster. If you have 2-3 passengers, then the cost isn't that much different than riding public transportation.
