Riding bikes makes everything better - including hangovers

My personal preference with making MTB videos is to have a subject to discuss or rant about; not everyone's cup of tea but personally pure POV videos don't really appeal.
Anyway, Christian came over on Saturday evening, we went to the pub, drank more than we expected and woke up hungover. He asked me in the morning what the subject of this video would be and my instant response was 'being hungover'.
However, I kind of waffled on about all kinds of things, as you will see.

Oh it did mate, first run down was a horror show of being far too rigid and not concentrating. Doesn't take long to sweat it out though. Behind the Nationwide at Swindon has the best trails ever 😂

Curtis is an expert at squirty poos, so he should know. The 'forest orange' in Hamsterley Forest is the stuff of legends. Rumour has it that it was still there when Danny Hart took over, and he nearly changed his mind when he smelt it

Ace video, i'm so glad Christian finally got to see these trails, just wished i could of been there to experience his reaction haha, glad i missed the hangover though 🤣 I can't believe i still haven't had a go on the P7, will have to change that next time we're both out on hardtails, i'm intrigued to see how different riding a steel ht compared to my aluminium crush. Looked like a great day on the bikes, great way to clear your head from a hangover 😀👍

Thanks mate. I knew he would love it there, how could you not? Hangover was worth it, we had a proper laugh the night before. Definitely need to try each others bikes; I couldn't remember whether we had already but obviously not.

Really is mate, helps that the journey time isn't long for me (although come the summer and holiday traffic on the A55, that will change!!). Funnily enough, other than me, Marc and Christian, I can't recall ever seeing another hardtail there. It's like anywhere though, full susser is definitely quicker and easier, but it's still fun on a hardtail (although your feet jump off the pedals at times - really thinking about SPD's for that very reason)

I've always had Hope brakes until my current bike that came with XTs. I was very happy with them until I swapped them for some Tech 4s - best brakes I've ever used! Great video 👍🍻

I do love the modulation of Hope brakes, whereas the XT's are a bit more on/off. I think I've just got so used to the XT's now because I've not really ridden the Alpine (with the Hopes on) this winter. End of the day, I'll most likely just service the Hope's as I don't really want to lash out a ton of £££, and have to get different matchmakers for the SRAM shifter and Hope dropper lever.

Totally agree. I’m also a bit of a Hope fanboy was going to try XT as a Tech 3 replacement, but there was a Tech 4 on offer at CRC and honestly they are another level 👌🏻

Great video as always. I was thinking of trying a ride there, myself. What's the difficulty level like - anything that an inexperienced rider would be okay on?

Thanks mate. I reckon most people would be ok there; it's definitely a step up from trail centres but there's no gap jumps (or the obvious line goes round them), a few drops that are the same (e.g. can miss them), etc. It's quite rooty in places and gets muddy but not slick, if you know what I mean; there were a couple of patches of slop that caught us out on the first couple of runs but to be honest, we were hungover and not concentrating at first 😂

We were younger then, plus we'd usually do the race/uplift day, then get very drunk, and finish off by going to the FOD to stand around feeling sorry for ourselves before heading home early. I blame Twelve
