RIDING BOTH WAYS ON THE IRON ORE TRAIN IN MAURITANIA: Nouadhibou to Zouerat and back again...

Let’s talk extreme adventures. Mauritania’s iron ore train is not only one of the longest trains in the world but also one of the most dangerous.
The train journey covers 704km each way travelling from the port of Nouadhibou to the mining town of Zouerat in the middle of the desert.
And I rode it both ways.
Firstly, in this video I want to tell the story of the train. I initially thought it would be a video showcasing extreme adventure and travel. But in fact, it turned out to be something completely different and a story of Mauritanian hospitality and learning about a whole new culture.
I want to be sure specially to give credit to these guys, the locals who ride this train, not because they want to - but because they have to. This is a way of life and a means of transport to and from work in the desert in these harsh conditions.
Here is MY story and all your questions answered about the iron ore train in Mauritania.
Thanks for watching! :)

Wait! So you actually did the entire first ride there without the mask out of respect but then way back you did as he wasn’t there. That’s mad! I thought you had on both ways bless you for not for that guy. This is incredible what an adventure!! But the fact this stuff exists and such a commute for these people is heart breaking 😢

Hi Gavin, after the episodes of Harry and Oscar, now it's time to the brave one, Gavin's time. Tough Journey in the train, I can't imagine a gazoline train still in this rich country of Mauritania with even small population about 5/6 millions. Stay safe Gavin. Where is Sarah, Harry and Oscar, we miss them a lot 🙂

Amazing!! Thank you for taking us with you aboard.. 4:37 Your man Gavin seemed naturally high without drugs, he's in harmony with the harshness of the desert.. He's very thankful and proud for being Muslim, and that was his way of invitation.. And everything happens, it happens with Allah's will.. That's the very main thing he said all along. I think that the majority of Sahrawis have that same patience and purity that both the desert and Islam teaches them away from the modern mangled societies.. I say this as a result of me being originally from the middle eastern desert, and I had to pass a rough military training in the heart of summer 1997, in the heart of the UAE desert. But l am just a Moroccan traveler. 13:55 That sweet southern tea takes a life time to be done, but it's the best in north Africa in my opinion!

Any tips with bringing with me my 4 kids (under 10) by Bus from Dakhla to Nouakchott? Or better stop at Nouadhibou first then to Nouakchott? Or car hire possible from Morocco Ps I lived in Mauritania before (on my own)
