Riley still rides Flash but he would not be very tolerant of any of the stuff we did in the video so he didn’t get used.

I haven’t done anything fun like this since I was about 14… everything has just been ring work and formal training. I remember having my pony and that’s when I had the most fun and it really made me a better rider. I need to find a barn that keeps it fun.

lol @ Pablo watching the eggs drop! I have a couple ideas, I hope they inspire something fun. You could string a series of these competitions together, so you get something like: cantering with short stirrups while holding an egg, that then turns into dropping the egg inside a circle (drawn in the sand) and then doing a simple change, then hopping over a small xrail, halting & doing around the world. Mix it up by having someone lead the pony at some point, maybe they could lead each other from the egg getting place to the egg dropping spot? With the rider blindfolded? Idk, you will have to test it for safety first. lol I really liked the untacking while mounted part! That was clever and I don't think I've ever tried that before but I will now!

Love the video! also, i ride bareback all the time and jump the same sized stuff with a saddle as i do without ( anywhere from 2 foot to 2'11") so a big tip that i have found helpful for staying steady is that the more you tense up and *try* to not bounce, the more you bounce. If you turn to jello (mostly haha) then ive found i bounce much much much less. :)

Does anyone have any tips on Turning an ex-fox hunter into a hunter/jumper?
@natashakate56873 жыл бұрын
Yeah… I have a few of you don’t mind. So Fox Hunters (the horses that chase the foxes and jump over large hedges and run in fields, those guys right?) Well they are already natural jumpers. Keep in mind that riders are also trusting them with their lives running across fields and jumping huge fences so hopefully this is a horse you can trust. I would start by teaching your horse to jump like any normal horse. It doesn’t matter on the experience your previous Fox-hunter has had because you want to know what he can do. Also doing some free-jumping so you can look at his conformation. Make sure you have an adequate diet and that you are constantly working on a bond - very important. Dressage is a huge foundation for jumpers so never forget about that. Last thing is, maybe have someone help you, such as an instructor or a coach so that you have some reassurance. That’s my personal advice, but I’ve personally never been in that situation.
