I've had a chance to ride with mine and I stand by my review. I couldn't get it to fog up, even not plugged in. comfortable, warm, I think you will be happy.

Great video. I wear FXR gear aside from a CKX Mission Helmet. Also have a 509 Altitude helmet and Sinister goggles. Love the 509 for most days- even the cold ones- but the convenience of the mission is awesome.

I have a 509 helmet I got last year. It’s very nice. I’m impressed. I have mixed gear. Katahdin jacket and gloves, castle bib and boots. Always get black and grey. That way when you get a new sled the colors don’t matter.

I have only owned a pair of 509 gloves. Nothing bad to say about 509. Wicked warranty and customer service. The gloves ripped at the end of the season and because it was the end of the season, that line was no longer available. The rep told me to contact him in the fall when the new line was in stock and he sent me a brand new version of the gloves that ripped. To remember and keep track of that a year later goes to show they really take customer service seriously. Nice to see!

I switched from Ski-Doo gear to Klim about 3 years ago. The jacket and bibs are not as warm as the Ski-doo by themselves but the Klim gear is designed more to be layered. For me that works well because of the range of temperatures we are riding in over the last 10 years. some trips are below -0 and others are in the mid 30's F. Layering keeps me comfortable in all conditions. Rode northern Ontario a few years ago and one of the mornings was -33. added an extra layer and was comfortable. I have not tried the 509 gear. Welcome back! I have an old leather suits that weight about 25 pounds and is uncomfortably warn when it's over -10°c. This looks like a great option for a lighter and more layered suit.

Great videos, I had the old original modular 1 from doo aswell , awesome helmets, mine just wore out. Almost impossible to find a good used sled for sale this year and dealerfloors are empty, could get sketchy on the trails with all the new riders out there. Becareful you don't fall into the Snowtrax model and sell your sole to the advertising dollar, stay independent.

Thanks Paul. I’m 5’9 170 and I went with a medium. I think I’m kind of in the middle of their sizes. It feels slightly on the big side, but it’s a different cut than I’m used to, with a longer jacket.

@@MyOldSled FYI Dave, I have the R-Series jacket and a set of Range bibs that I started using last season. My jacket is a size large and fits great, however with the bibs on it is very tight and restrictive. (I am 6' @ 179 lbs) I just ordered a Range jacket size XL hoping for a looser fit with the bibs. I will let you know how it fits/feels for a comparison between the R-Series size large and the Range size X-large.

Like I mentioned above, I have both 509 jackets. and after spending the day out on the trails, (low 20's in the northeast U.S.,) my personal opinion is the Range is my go-to jacket. Plenty warm and a better fit.

Great video. I wear CKX floatation suit 2 piece. I got it last year on clearance but love how it fits. One thing it doesn't have I wish that it did is the magnetic closers. Let me know how well they work in the colder weather

Hi Jeremy. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah I love those closures too. It was pretty cold when I was shooting the video, but I I believe most types of magnets preform better in the cold. The atoms in the magnets vibrate more slowly in the cold, and they align more uniformly and this makes them actually work better.

i ride a 509 allied monosuit (ski-doo ex-2 helmet) and when I'm low on layers inside I noticed a cold air draft coming down the back of my neck and chilling my back! i have a few nicks in my knees as well from the running boards! let us know if you get cold knees that is also something I struggle with!

Is the inside phone pocket between your body and the insulation of the coat? One poor design of that gray BRP coat is your phone is outside of the insulation layer and gets too cold on a long ride.

Yes, the pocket is inside of the insulation, you can see it where I point out the head phone jack. There is also a pocket in the bibs which would a phone would fit in.

David I am more of multi winter sports person, ice fishing and snowmobiling - is the 509 gear knees waterproof and is there a floatation factor built into their suits. If not do you know if a brand that provides these types of clothing?

Hi David. I would say it would keep you warm and reasonably dry, but to be honest, it is designed for riding. It is 10k/10k which indicates how high a column of water can be (10,000mm) before it penetrates the fabric...this is a decent rating, suitable for most winter sports, but to be totally waterproof fabric needs to be 28k. The only thing I can think of off hand is Gortex. Of course all fabrics have pros and cons. There are jackets with floatation out there, I believe CKX makes one. Personally I avoid ice, but that would make ice fishing tough. Thanks for watching.

Great video. Personally I just don't go out in anything below -20c. I like to stop and have a snack and drink. If you do that when its too cold your hair and face start to freeze solid. Then its uncomfortable when you put your gear back on.

Hi Sasha, I just got a truck and haven’t done any of that yet, so I cant help you there, yet. I think a trailer is a safer route, or one of those ramps that pivot up onto the bed and slide in...

No worries. I think its great to have a sled you love. i just think some people are a little inconsiderate with that. if someone asks “hey what do you think I should get” I think its fine to say “Well i really like the mxz from skidoo” But I think about someone who saved up and got a deal on a Polaris and some schmuck tells him or her that Polaris sucks. Just not how I am...but I like Skidoo :) That said there are some Polaris sleds I’d love to have.

Hi MTMN. I think the 509, and klim are both decent products, each of them has different features and advantages. Styling and look matter to riders too, and thats personal so everyone will have a different view.

You said (they sent me) how do i get free gear?😂😂 I'm wearing a pair of boots a buddy gave me literally 20 years ago a pair of carhartt bibs i got for Christmas 5 years ago and a really old carhartt coat that was given to me a few months ago. Oh and i have no helmet this year, that was a old motorcycle helmet but i let a guy borrow it and his friend ran it over😢

Well, first you need to build a channel.....and then I think you should get your friend to buy you a new helmet...Seriously though, most of the gear I wear and talk about I purchase, but from time to time a company will provide products to you-tubers like myself or people with Instagram followings etc as part of their social media marketing. Sometimes they contact me me, other times I'll reach out to them if I think something will make an interesting video. I am not paid for videos, and the companies or individuals who send me items to test have no input into the content, though I occasionally reach out for input on technical questions. I always try to provide an objective and balanced opinion. Carhart is a good durable product...Get a helmet before you get hurt....and stop lending your gear out. Thanks for watching!

My first complaint on 509 r4 helmet; looking to get wife a new helmet, her bibs pink and white, nothing that looks womenish. Please pass that on too them. I would buy a pink and white today if they had one.
