Kevin, Fast on land is one thing. Fast on the water is a WHOLE other experience. 60 on the water feels like 120 on land. Especially in a low-slung boat like Mike has!

You guys are a good pair, both chill smooth natured dudes. I used to race my dad's 21ft four Winn's liberator, had a 460 with open side exhaust and would do 65, racing that each summer at 8 9 10 years old is one of my best memories, I could only imagine how 100 feels! Ever since then, that distinct sound of droning big blocks on water makes my heart happy. 😊 I definitely remember a jet boat, a couple STVs and a v drive I knew better than to mess with lol
@Thematty6352 жыл бұрын
God the thumbnail gets me haha. Finnegan sitting calm smiling, hair in the wind. and kevin looking like your reaching for something to grab a hold of haha (don't understand why these boats don't have any handles for passengers to hold on to though.) looks like yet another killer time out on the water with the guys. can't wait to see you build one too 😉😉
@bullhead3602 жыл бұрын
Lol our jet boat doesn’t have any handles either and it never will. It’s all part of the experience, and if it ever hits the fan, that grab handle ain’t gonna save you and will probably cause more harm in the end.

I had a custom built 24ft shallow V NGK V drive with a 455 blown olds double pumper that would do 120mph easy... It was funny when Fin said he needed flat water for Game Over to run, because I could not run on flat water, I always needed a little ripple at the very least or the hydraulic pressure at speed would start sucking me down to hard... And Yes Kevin, 100mph on water is very terrifying... I blew a hole in hull about a foot in front of my gunnel at 85mph and the forces that happened sent G force through the bones like crazy (very creepy feeling)... I stood my boat almost vertical as I raced towards shore to keep it from sinking..(I didn't make it, sank 69ft, had to dive down and tie inner tubes to it to bring it back up), rebuilt it even better, made it faster and put a kledge cell foam core in it so it would never fully sink again, took it out twice and sold it to my buddy...hahahaha...

This video was a blast to watch and live along with you. It brings back jetboat memories. When I was younger I had a friend who ordered a Taylor SS jetboat with a 454, thru-transom exhaust and adjustable trim. It was yellow with metallic blue stripes to match the Suzuki RM MX bikes that he raced. I thought that boat was a monster and it topped out just over 60, maybe 63. Being a dirt bike guy he was very familiar with porting cylinder heads so he took the pump apart and polished all the sand casting marks off the inside of the housing and polished up the impeller vanes. It took forever. It also didn't make a bit of difference on the performance of the boat. That was disappointing but the boat was glorious nonetheless.

Yeah that whole 100 mph on the water is nuts. I've done 75 and that was too fast for me on the water. I've done 200mph plus on a Hayabusa and wasn't nearly as afraid as I was doing 75 on the water.

Amazed that hat stayed on. I couldn't keep one on at half that speed. Brought back old memories watching all the low speed steering in overzealous amounts. With experience you will get more predictive and need very little steering input to keep it straight at low speeds.

Nothing compares to fast on water. I have been about 140 in several cars (including a high 9 drag car) and about 80-85 in an 18’ flat bottom boat. Absolutely no comparison. The sensation of speed in a boat is off the charts. The wind in your face, being so low to the water, no seatbelts, very little to hang onto, the screaming engine right behind you. It literally feels like riding on a rock skipping across the water.
@nintendogamer54722 жыл бұрын
not to mention seeing the countless videos of boats lifting off or hitting wake and disentegrating rag dolling you thru the water leaving you knocked out to drown all add up to way more pucker factor. At least on land after most accidents someone rolls up and does cpr and calls an ambulance, if they had crashed it would be at least a few minutes before some one gets to them and then trying to get them in the boat and back to shore adds so many layers of risk.

You know what I find that works better than chugging something gritty and green when working long hard hot days? A healthy full breakfast with plenty of carbs and protein that is light on added sugars, dairy, and fats. Then drink lots of water, or unsweetened ice tea, skip the sodas and energy drinks and drink one 12 Oz glass of sugar free gator-aide every hour. Eat a light lunch preferably something like a lightly dressed Caesar salad, or couple hard boiled eggs with a few crackers or piece of toast, a cheese omelette with an English muffin and one 12 Oz light bodied beer with 5% or lower abv if you desire or a glass of gator aide. Additionally change you clothes pants, shirt, underwear, socks, and shoes and if at all possible take a quick shower and continue to drink water and sugar free gator aide and maybe a piece of fruit around 3. Around 5 to 6 in the afternoon enjoy a beer or two and a lite meal and have a your dinner around 8 to 9.

Dude! That's gotta be a sphincter tightening experience of epic proportions! Also, i thought 30-45mph pr so on a tube while i was growing up, getting towed behind dads boat was wild as hell. That T style jet nozzle makes the boat boogie big time.
@valuedhumanoid65742 жыл бұрын
45 mph on the water IS hauling ass. Shit just looks faster on the water. I grew up near a reservoir and the fastest I have been on the water was in a 18' jetboat that had an Olds 455 naturally aspirated that would put out 600 hp and a top speed of about 55 to 60 mph. The owner would bare foot ski behind while his wife drove. And when you've never been that fast on water you get the fear of a lifetime mixed with pure adrenaline and a lot of stomach bile. I can't even visualize Finnigan's boat speeds.
