Knockers sank!?! I didn't even know houseboats sank in storms on lakes....at least unless you were really trying to sink them.
@RedRockSurfer
@RedRockSurfer Жыл бұрын
@@JerryArizona Afternoon storms can bring in some pretty solid winds. If a houseboat has an engine failure, then it can get blown up against the walls in a channel where the waves will just pound it, fill the bilge faster than the pumps can remove it and eventually sink the boat. It can be pretty scary. If you search Knockers Houseboat on KZbin, you can see pictures and video of it after it sunk.

@JerryArizona
@JerryArizona Жыл бұрын
You can go into protune (I think that's what it's called) and lower sharpness to low. I think this was shot on flat color profile but this was an 8 or 10. I really like the natural color profile on the 11. (Don't have a 12.) It's almost unwatchable with sharpness on any setting besides low. Reminds me of mobile phone video.

Definitely cool. Once upon a time on the way to Las Vegas with a friend stopped by there and hiked, tramped, camped, swam, jumped, floated, fished, explored, discovered (before jet skis were invented) and just had plain old fashion grown up kids fun there amazingly unexpectedly. Major stand out moment, want the world to know of it. That it's shrinking maybe go bye, hope not, but is nature's rule: One door closes another one opens.

Wonderful to see the current diminished lake. I circumnavigated it in a canoe in 1983, over 300 miles, rented houseboats in the later 80s and bought and kept my own boat there at Big Water from 1993-2002 when I repatriated it to NJ when the lake started to seriously dry up. My favorite canyon for camping was Gunsight. I noticed no sign of the annoying Navajo Generating Station in the background while you were going around Wahweap Bay and guess it is gone? Over the years I have come to want to see the dam be demolished and the area allowed to return to its natural state. Maybe nature will take care of that itself. It almost succeeded before when there was too much water.

I'm not experienced enough to do that type of thing. I've done quite a few canyons, but haven't put in the time to learn all the things I need to know to be as competent at it as I'd like. If you want to start out, take some classes with a qualified company. I always recommend AZ Rock and Canyon Adventures here in Phoenix. Tom Seeley is a great guy. He even took Tina and I out with his group just to be nice. He can also probably point you in the direction to meet people who would go out and show you the (literal) ropes.

@JerryArizona
@JerryArizona 2 жыл бұрын
They do allow motorized watercraft into Antelope. But when we were there, there is nowhere you could really land the thing to get out and hike. Outside of anchoring in the deep water and swimming in. I have a video of the recent conditions I released a couple weeks ago you can check out to see what I mean. One of the two - I think it was Labyrinth - that we did looked like you could land a jet ski and get out and hike. I say something about hiking it in this video. That might be a better option.
