I used to see a bunch of scooterists 1974 -75. Scooter boys were thin on the ground then, after the 60s boom and before the late 70s revival.

just wish lambretta and Vespa piaggio would start making stylish scooters again because they are all so expensive and rare especially down under but we all know if they did they would probably be electric powered haha

The legendary GS 160 is an imposing looking scooter, it's amazing to see how it scales to the new GTS generation, which looks gigantic next to it and dwarfs it.

Yeah, i noticed that straight away, amazing how much taller it is. Thats whats noticeable when im on holiday, I'm not the tallest person, and i get cramp in my feet, tiptoeing on these new style twist and go scooters 😂, but not ridden a new style vespa, in fact, last scooter i rode, was a GP150, that my arse dad brought about 12 yrs ago, to try win favour with me. He promised he'd do a little tidying, then give it to me.. Then sold it 3 months later! 😭. I haven't spoken to him since 🤷🏻♂️😂

If don't have hand clutch gear head set and foot break it's not a proper scooter, theirs things you can do with a clutch that are fun, once you get used whatever side the foot break pulls to you'll be set up proper like.

at 53 I'm getting into scooters just now. No interest in a motorcycle with a manual clutch. I'll be scooter till I die.

I reckon this is why a lot of clubs struggle. I ride scooters and bikes. The only club I felt comfortable in is R/C that specifically sells itself as being inclusive, it's a private club in that membership is by referral only, but racism and sexism are specifically forbidden. We have about 20% women riders, no non-white riders yet. I have attended ride outs with scooter clubs and met some cool people, but racism, sexism and bigotry is rife. I think perhaps because the membership are that bit older. I (a middle aged white dude) wouldn't choose to hang out with racists, I can't see why Blacks and Asians would choose to either. I know some are going to dismiss this as wokeness. I don't care quite frankly. The only club I ride scooters with has a member who isn't white. I have not joined them just because of time constraints, they seem friendlier and also seem to attract consistent numbers to their ride outs. Not saying the Night Owls are racists, I don't know them. But the perception of the whole scooter and bike scene is it isn't inclusive.
