RedLine, Mongoose, Stroker, MotoMag.were the tools of the late 1970’s. We converted everything to BMX. We jumped anything we could but the “goosenecks” and early bars couldn’t take the impacts. What you guys do today is amazing. At 53, and still riding, I have to tell you, you guys are a reminder of my youth. Once I jumped a JC Penney frame I added Skyline plastic mags to over a 1970 Chevelle. We didn’t even know what helmets were back then.

I ridden dirt jumps for most of my life and really enjoy every of your videos, I love your personal inputs into the topics. For this type of bmx street demonstration you should use a short back 20” street bike. Racing bikes geometry are made for fast speed with long back and 74.5 TT for max stability. Maybe you could make another video about the differences between bikes use for vert, dirt jumping, and street. Thanks.

I couldn't even finish watching without commenting...gotta go back for the ending. THERMONUCLEAR NOSEDIVE !!! Holy crap...that is HILARIOUS stuff!! Man, watching you guys do this and giggle like a couple of 13 year olds made my day. SO MUCH GREATNESS in this video. Your lead in metal power chord was PERFECT. Dude...everyone out there makes great videos, but yours just have more sparkle than the rest. That took me back to being kids in the early 80's and doing nutty stuff like this constantly with my brother on my Torker with Ashtabula cranks and Tuff wheels! Worst crash ever was we built a ramp and were jumping a wagon and a ditch. IT WAS DARK, because...hey, what could possibly go wrong with hitting ramps at the end of your driveway in the dark right? I made my first run in and at the last minute bailed to go around...not enough speed. Only problem was, I forgot that the HANDLE of the wagon was extended out in front of it. I hit that and went full torpedo OTB mode right into the ditch and bunged up just about every joint in my body for a week or two...but nothing broken. Sucked having to explain that to my baseball coaches. :-)

That bike probably worth a couple grand... me being a bmx racer myself, those bikes can get pretty expensive.
@jakegarrett81097 жыл бұрын
Any high end bike is a couple grand. A set of carbon road bike wheels alone is roughly $3000. If you want a disk wheel (just the back wheel), its usually $3000 to $5000 for just 1 wheel (not counting cassette). To get Shimano Dura Ace or Red groupset is about $1000 as well. A couple grand for a nice BMX like that doesn't seem like too much if you are racing, comparing to road bikes (or mountain bikes). None of them are cheap on the high end.
@tomasanderson55897 жыл бұрын
Jake Garrett I’m aware of that, some bmx racers use disk brakes to get style points, but it doesn’t really play a factor on racing, unless you wanna stop faster. I run box forks, brake cable, and cranks, it’s pretty good.
@mtadams20097 жыл бұрын
I think if you are spending that kind of money on a road bike you better be high end pro or your just a poser. I mt bike with a lot of people who ride super expensive bikes and it seems like they spent a lot of money for nothing. I am not into cheap bikes but at a point you are getting very little benefit for your cash flow. Take care
@jakegarrett81097 жыл бұрын
I don't have carbon wheels (I do have optional disk wheels, made out of the finest cereal boxes and hot glue, spray painted with my University's colors in a spiral pattern). But my road bike is a nice bike because I do enjoy biking a lot, and competing in collegiate races (without the disk wheels, that's just for fun setting personal records around the lake).
