Get out the orange paint. That is cool you found the magnet after several days and gully washers. Someone needs to put a sign at the end of Ridge road about the big getting stuck puddles. I like that a viewer came down to see the area. Candace is a sweetheart. You certainly can be proud of the great person she is and of how you raised her. Her students are very fortunate to have her.

You seemed to be quite excited about finding a magnet! I guess the excitement comes from not finding a cheap magnet, but finding something that seems very improbable that it would still be there. After the storms, I probably would have checked also because the ride over would be fun, but I would not expect to actually find it. The fact you found it before you even got off the bike was pretty cool. You probably don't get many days a year where the temperature during the day stays below freezing so you probably don't have the proper clothing to ride a bike in that temperature. I had to buy clothing to handle 40 degree temperature cause I didn't have clothing I could wear while riding a bike in 40 degree weather. It doesn't get below freezing here during the day very often either so why buy clothing you would only wear 2 or 3 days a year. I just stay inside during those days. Well at least I use to, now I go bike riding in those temps!

Using a GPS can get you killed. A couple from Canada was driving thru Idaho on the way to Vegas a few years ago. The gps took them into northern Nevada on a dirt road with snow. Got stuck, man took off walking, was never found. The woman almost died from cold and hunger before she was found. LOOK AT A REAL MAP AND KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING.
