RIDING THE CHEAPEST BIKE ON AMAZON DOWN A MOUNTAIN - WILL IT MAKE IT?

Riding the cheapest bike on Amazon down a mountain - Will it make it? I bought a full suspension MTB for £160 off Amazon and took it into the mountains to see if this bike can survive a real mountain bike downhill trail!
The amazon cheap bike challenge is here and for this video I decided to drive into Wales to the infamous Cwmcarn bike park and ride from the top of the mountain to the bottom on this cheap £160 bike from amazon, but will it last? This full suspension bike is called the Duke and with a name like that I expected good things to come from it. After Lewi Pilgrim towed me up the hill with his Ebike I was ready to drop in on a black level downhill track and push this little delicate bike to the limits from top to bottom! But the only question on my mind was, will it survive the ride?
I hope you enjoy the video!

I'm pretty sure that ''bike'' though will state in the instructions it isn't meant for offroad use. He is already a pro rider but it would be hard to progress on something like that, let alone safely. That bike no way shape or form is safe for mountain biking. Don't be cheap, it isn't worth it to get a hunk of junk like that solely due to the price.

Tbh this isn't even a begginer bike, it's pretty much landfill disguised as a bicicle. I have had a bike similar to this and they're horrible from end to end, the rear shock is literal garbage and will eventually die, leaving you with a useless frame. Get a hardtail and not one of theese, you can get a decent one for 250/350 that will show it's worth the moment you get on it, it won't beat records or survive two and a half years of trails, but it will be enough to see if you like MTB and learn many important things until you are ready to go a bit more serious

I honestly stumbled upon Sam's video and it got me hooked. This video just proves the point : you dont need an expensive bike to just cycle. Not all of us are crazy to do stunts and crazy stuff, but a simple bike can get the job done. It's the rider more than the bike. Reminded me of the point of me being a cheapo rider and everyone laughing at my bike for cheap parts but alas, the bike still gets it done. Absolutely awesome. Now, if someone's gonna make noise again of having xxx parts and how crappy the bike is and it wont survive the ride, i'll refer them to this video!

@@garotPL Yes and no, better material and craftsmanship perhaps. But you still had single walled rims, quill stem, spring loaded forks, and cantilever brakes. Bitd by the time you got to the bottom of the mountain your brakes were burnt off and shot. And your wheels were bent. Well said... now you can buy the top of the line bikes used for 200 bucks... but they will be trashed... you can 100% buy a new cheapish bike online... use some locktite thread locker... take your time to adjust everything and you will have a reliable bike. I have bought used cheap high end brand bikes... and cheap who knows what brand cheap new ones... it takes time to get a bike setup. building it at the carpark... no torque wrench ... take a hard downhill track and expect it to hold up... you're expecting the impossible. I always ride mild trails and on road... when its only onroad I put some road wheels and tire set on my bike... when it will have some offroading... I put the offroading set... I still have my cheap 26" full suspension with extra 700s on roadtires set ... anyways... Its up to u and ur pocket but I trust a good build and a proper adjust anyday.

One thing that I have learned in my years of owning bikes and what's demonstrated in this video is that these bikes are built with the lowest spec possible as far as parts go. They're not really made to take a beating that a downhill trail will have on a mountain bike. That reminds me of the last mountain bike I bought. I used it only for city riding because I knew that the Cannondale bike I bought (was only $500) wasn't going to be able to stand up to trail riding. There's usually a safety sticker somewhere on the frame that says that these kinds of cheap bikes aren't intended for downhill trail riding.

A serious shoreline seems to be a good beginner bike. In this price category. You got hydraulic piston brakes and 2.25 wide tyres, this is important. The drivetrain ist a cheap one, but it will work for the first rides. And you can upgrade anything on this bike if you want. With the right headset you can even fit a tapered fork on to this bike.

My main question is how this chain was still on the chainring after all this bumps? I’ve spent so much time trying to fix this problem on a street bike, lucky i’ve finally found out what narrow wide is

We all start somewhere, right now i have a good DH bike but because i'm a chonker i can't really do anything big on it since the rear shock's spring isn't enough, i will eventually buy a 650x3.2 and go for some serious jumps

That bike rattle is a nice feature, lets other riders and wildlife know you are coming. Should be standard on all MTBs.

Great review Sam, just bought this bike for a 2 week trip to Morzine, held up really well after hammering the Pleney black. I'm currently laid up in hospital with a ruptured spine, i think it might have something to do with the shorts I wore 👍

I bought a MTB from Target a few years ago just to get back on a bike again after all these years off. Despite everything being tightened just right, the handlebars quite honestly came off going downhill. And by came off, I mean I had them in my hands above the bike attached to nothing. It was then I knew I effed up. I have since bought a good bike and have been having the time of my left ever since.

Yes I did enjoy your great video. First of all shows what Incredible ability you have to just get on this thing and SURVIVE that ride, WOW. Also the manufacturers should be incredibly GRATEFUL to you for showing that a person can actualy survive on their product (albeit dependant on ability) during an extreme situation. Well Done.
