I love Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad. It’s my favorite historical attraction in Michigan. I often went there for Halloween with my family. I even went there for Christmas one time.

I LOVE the K-27 "Mudhen". ❤️ I own four HOn3 brass K-27 2-8-2 steam locomotives imported by Westside Model Company. They're wonderful representations of the real thing. I'm so glad I have them! 😊 😁

I hear this train all the time as well as the normal train going through Mt. Morris. On windy days or even rainy days it sounds like either train is in your back yard. Love the sounds all year around.

Midwest Zephyr Media Crossroads is maybe 8 miles down the road from me. There's even been times we heard the bands at the fairgrounds as well. Nice to just sit outside and here the train at night, or during Halloween/Christmas. Then there's a few months it is quiet then picks up again on opening day. Even love driving into town with the train running near the road.

I used to work on the Huckleberry RR and lived on Dodge Rd 1 mile east of Genesee Rd. That was in 1979-1986. I could hear the train when it was around the fairgrounds and sometimes even see the smoke. They did not have the music or Huckleberry song while I worked there. The east loop was 1.5 miles around and on the east side of the fairgrounds so there was about 2 more miles of track then. I also noticed that car No. 8 was in front of the first simi-open car you were in. Car No 8 is a Kimble Car Co. product made for the North Western Pacific RR north of San Francisco when that rr was 3 foot gauge. Then it went to the Nevada-California-Oregon RR. The NCO detrucked it and it was used for storage then a dwelling with an A-frame over it. It had been restored but not put into service when I left in 1983. I am glad that is in use. I believe it was built in 1878 or 79.

I haven't been there since the 1980s.. Honestly forgot about it... For no other reason than just time... It was an amazing place and still looks amazing in the video.. When I was a kid.. There were robbers who stopped the train and "robbed" the passengers... I was hoping they still did that... Anyone know when that stopped??
@melissajean20113 жыл бұрын
I remember they stopped at the big circle on Bray Rd for a “shootout” type of thing! This was when I was about 4 or 5 and I’m 28 now! Recent vids don’t show anything similar so I’m assuming they don’t do the “robbery” or the shootout anymore so I’m kind wondering the same!

What kind of whistle is on 464?! It makes her sound a lot more intimidating than what her size would make you think.
@jacobwoods87386 жыл бұрын
Sounds and looks like the SP 6 chime, though they also have a similar sounding Nathan 6 chime. The whistle heard here is fairly regular on her, and makes her sound much more powerful than 463 which has the original peanut whistle (which I adore), even though 464 is actually a weaker engine due to some modifications at Knott’s.

@@allischalmersfanwd4566 you misinterpreted what I said. 464 is not oil fired currently. During its short tenure at Knotts Berry Farm it was oil fired. Once it was delivered to the Huck it was converted back to coal.

There is no music for the pacing scene. As for on the train, all you are going to hear is the whistle and bell. That car is at the end of the train.
