Riding the Inflatable World 5-Meter Black Whale

Here I attempt to ride my incredibly large Inflatable world 5-meter shiny black whale. It comes in a matte or shiny finish; a blue, black, or transparent blue color; and a 3 or 5-meter length. This toy is made of very thin and incredibly soft and flexible vinyl. Out in the sun the toy offers little resistance to pushing on it and you will sink far into the toy. I would not recommend riding this toy in the heat of the sun as it caused my whale to permanently bulge out in some places.

Beautiful whale, so soft and squishy in the sun! Surprised a seam didn't blow out with you bouncing directly on the top seam and the dorsal fin. I have a black and blue, but no place to ride them outside, sadly! I love the big tail, wish I could just buy that part!

+Chuck T Yes, occasionally people come buy and I have to move my camera and sometimes the toy out of the road. For the most part though there are very few people out there. And I weight about 180 pounds.

Hmm, what's the squeak on the shiny 3 meter shark? Maybe I'll get that instead... Squeakiness is like the most important thing to me! XD I did just measure up to see if I could maybe squeeze this 5 meter whale into the largest room in my house, and... nope, the tail would be sticking out of the door!

+Squeaky Don't forget the whale's tail inflates separately, but it is still huge. All of the newer Inflatable World toys, including the shark, come with both a shiny or a matte finish option and the shiny ones are very squeaky.

+Squeaky Awesome. I know you won't regret it. I have a Metro Vac DIDA-4 they are very quiet and quick, but quite expensive. Otherwise you're definitely going to want an electric pump of some kind for such a ridiculously big toy. Any inflation pump from the local store should suffice.

+TyGamess The one I have in the video is the 5 meter black shiny one. The company sells most of their toys in both matte or glossy options. Both are the same vinyl the difference being whether the shiny side faces in or out.

what does the material feel like compared to the matte version? is it about the same? sort of sticky, like rubbing a wet hand on a rubber/latex surface? or is it more slick/smooth like the matte version?

It is the opposite side of the same material. The shiny version does stick significantly more. If you own one of the matte versions you can see what the shiny version would be like wherever the fins and tail attach.

+William Roberts The well is very good quality for the price. Despite its massive size it still has the same vinyl thickness of a regular Intex whale so you do have to be careful not to put your foot through it when out in the sun. Out in the sun, the toy will get very hot and soft.

That looks insanely fun! I figure you do have to be careful about heatstretching, though. Btw, why was this one shorter than the other riding videos? Was it because you wanted it out of the sun before it deformed more?

+Joe Sckmoe Yes, I was worried about it deforming too much in the heat of the sun. It is amazingly fun and super bouncy, just not as much fun in the sun when you are worried you're going to hurt it. I will make a longer video with the 5 meter blue one I own.

Just curious, does fully inflating something and leaving it in the heat to stretch or "smoothen out" help it last longer?

What you are referring to would be a stress relief or annealing process. Firmly inflating a toy in a warm environment and letting it sit will naturally reduce the stress present in a toy making it stronger in general. You wouldn't want to do this in the sun as that would risk badly deforming the toy. This process is typically taken care of when the manufacturer leaves the toy inflated for a while when checking for leaks.

+SwaffyX Doing this more than once isn't really going to change much. If the factory like IW or Jet Creations test inflated a toy for a while there is no reason to do it again. I am not sure whether all toys are tested in that way though. Simply firmly inflating a toy and setting the air conditioner to 80 or so before going to work for the day will do it for you.

They occasionally open preorders for there toys and they are definitely the best ones around. If you are looking for more budget friendly toys then you should check out InflatableWorld.de. They are the company that made the whale in this video and have a good selection of decent quality toys at reasonable prices.

+leonard drescher The 5 meter whales were part of a new production run of toys Inflatable World made. The new inflatables were all made of a much softer but equivalent thickness of vinyl. The 3 meter ones are still quite amazing though.

+Никита Гордов Inflatable World sells both matte and shiny versions of their whale. In fact, they sell matte and shiny versions of most of their toys. Do you know whether you purchased the matte version? If you did, that would be why it is not shiny. I do not know of any chemicals that can be used to safely polish or shine a pool toy.
