Thanks, but this one is going to take a bit of time to digest. Most likely in pieces. I watch 2 Japanese KZbinrs that do trains and ferry boats. "Kuga's Travel" + "Solo Travel Japan". They never talk and never show themselves. A train like this only works in the sense that it can pay for itself (or lose relatively little money) when there's a population density to support it. In the US that would be the Northeast Corridor (Boston to Washington DC). While we have a lot of people in a lot of places, there's a lot of nothing in between those places. Get outside the metro areas and the US is a very rural country. I live about an hour and half from Boston and Long Island Sound by car. I can also drive 20-30 minutes to the west with someone blindfolded and if I dropped them off on a dirt road it might take them a half a day to walk to 'Civilization' - a paved road.
