This one always hits close to home. My dad enlisted in 1968 and sold his ‘67 Corvette. Served his 4 years, including 22 months in Southeast Asia. I think about the number of Private Malones that he must have known…the ones that didn’t make it back…memorialized on that long black slab of granite..

This happened to my husband and I. His dead uncle rescued us from a fiery crash caused by another. He died in the same way as private Malone. I'll never forget him.

My wife worked for a pharmasist i 1981. He drove 30 miles one way. He wanted a cheaper car, saw an add for a 1966 chevy near his home. When he opened the old garage door ,under a tarp was an almost new Corvette. Being an honest man, he told the lady she didn't know what she had. She looked very dissapointed untill he said this car is worth more than the $2000 she was asking. He told her he would act in her stead and get her top dollar. The car had only 350 miles. Her son bought the car before being sent to Vietnam, so the value and story went up. He got her 25k. A retired army col. bought it. Same story and very sad.

My 'second parrents' (an older couple i helped on their farm) gave me a '69 charger when i got my license. Their son got it not long before hecwas drafted for Vietnam and was KIA. I later enlisted in the army. Won't go into all the teen dreams I experienced in that car, or what I try to forget from my service, but this song makes me cry, rage, remember, rage some more, panic, and cry every time I hear it

About a decade ago I was driving on the California coast, this song randomly came on the radio and it occasionally faded in it out as I drove; needless to say I had goosebumps by the end of the song because of this

my Private Malone was my best friend I served with in 2016. We joined the Army at the same time, same recruiter, etc, and he just couldn't find a way to cope with his depression after we were done with basic and had been split up for our AIT/MOS training. He took his life in 2017.

OK. Gave this one a listen with thoughts of trying it out at karaoke. Heh. Not a ghost of a chance. Wouldn't be able to make out the words on the screen. Hits me in the feels and leaves a crater...

Singing this (female key) at a huge Veterans Day event in my small hometown with the whole community there in honor of the Veterans that will be present. No pressure. Have to sing through the tears, a skill I have not yet mastered.

My brother was driving with our grandpa. In the backseat of that truck, there was a pillow, and when the truck flipped and the driver's side was crush, they found my bro unharmed with the exception of scrap on his wrist, with that pillow right under his head. Grandpa was with him that day, no doubt

My brother died 11 years ago (I was 5 he was 21) and my dad gave me my brother's truck and I always see him or feel his presence when I'm driving in our Jeep so I listen to this song on long drives when im sad and I drive out to his grave and sing it to him then when I get in the truck his favorite song always plays

Only "Certain Words" of this song apply to my Guardian Angel and myself. That's why I love it, its amazing the way I can decipher those words. I am just unable to explain it. He does not want me to reveal his name, except he was an Army Ranger who didn't make it home. The reason, he sends me another song "IRIS" ❤😇
