@@rwwbeast1 typical super trucker response so I’ll fire one back to ya: you’d have to go into trucking with enough money or stay with a company to save up enough to buy a tractor and box trailer. Not to mention maintenance (tires, oil, etc.), insurance and the risk of possible down time for issues with the trailer or tractor and what shop you go to to get it fixed, how long you’re down for, and how long it takes them to fix it (availability of parts). Stuff like this usually starts around $100-150k for some newer stuff (standard tractor and non-reefer box trailer). You can get used things which does work, but potentially more risk of downtime. Used reefer is about 20-50k, used flatbed 10-40k, and a used dry/box will run you about 10-40k. There’s a lot of stuff to consider and it ain’t cheap. No giveaways either unless you’re giving one away?? Sign me up if so as long as it’s not a rolling death trap (for someone else and/or myself).

My company runs a lot of water heaters and parts for ao so For future reference if you ever go back to this particular ao smith. Turn left at the 2nd light when you exit off of 26 then turn right at the only light you come to go across the tracks It’ll take you to the “3rd” guard shack lol save you some time and less hassle. Bro, it makes me so nervous that you release the 5th wheel before the landing gear is down. I use PALS for coupling and SLAP for uncoupling. P-in, A-ir Lines, L-anding Gear, S-afe to move. / S-afe Surface to drop, L-anding Gear Down, A-ir Lines Disconnected, P-in Pulled. Using this acronym and doing it the same way every time will keep you from dropping one someday, IMHO. Great video, Dave!

I admire old or older truckers, one can only imagine what it was like all those years ago, today however those places have changed dramatically, both the traffic and locations have changed just as dramatically if not more, I used to use road maps when I was younger when going on “road trips” I spent 44 years in the automotive industry, if I learned anything about life, about my hobby of bass fishing, about technology in general, is that technology advances, I still use maps (Google or paper) because new technology is never 100 percent accurate. They have driven through all of these changes, we haven’t, they don’t divulge their experience easily (I don’t blame them) we on the other hand must seek answers elsewhere in a lot of instances and electronics become a key player in how we go about familiarizing ourselves with new locations. Oh yeah and PS, when you release the latch on the 5th wheel, make sure your brakes are pulled and your trans is in neutral as well or it may not work, our day cab VNR’s are the same.

Compare the length of the space behind the trailer with the lengt of your trailer that is still stick out from the trailer you're parking next to, then you can guess how much you can go further back. Thus, when these to measures are the same, then you can stop backing up, when the front of your trailer is even with the front of the traile next to you. The 5th wheel release might also work when you turn key without actually starting the engine. Once I borrowed a box truck of which I could operate the load board that way.

The one on right is a dedicated truck GPS. The phone on left is using Google Maps to give alternative info, such as traffic and satellite views not available on the other one. Each serves a purpose because neither alone gives complete info he wants.
