Hey little tip with mucking out: put the old but stil clean straw on the place where Ted pees the most so the next time you muck out you just take out the older straw that then is wet and dirty

Would love to understand more about just general loan responsibilities - saddler/vet checks/back checks/dentist. What’s the process like regarding booking and liaising with owner? Are they present for those things or do you take care of it? Just general insight into things is sharers and non owners don’t necessarily have over sight of would be massively helpful. Love the content as usual! :)

Yes! Great questions. I’ll put them in a video too but generally if you are sharing or part-loaning, the above responsibilities lie with the owner, but if you are full-loaning, all of those responsibilities, including costs and booking lie with you.

Just found your channel. I’m also 27, working full time with a part loan cob who I’ve had for almost 5 years. Dread the dark weekday evenings each year. How do you manage riding in the winter and dark nights?

I usually ride in the mornings! We are lucky to have a floodlit school so I start riding in the dark and it gets lighter as the ride goes on. I also put my horses ‘days off’ always in the week so I don’t waste a weekend day and I make sure I don’t miss out on valuable hacking at the weekends

@RidingWithRhi Caress, don't pat (smack) your horse. You don't do that do your children. Horses don't do that to each other in the wild. They lick each other (caress).

You’re absolutely right! This video is very old, but since learning that, I mostly scratch/rub rather than pat these days. We are always learning ✨
