Id love to own an automatic motorcycle that looks tres cool and badass! I find riding a manual motorcycle I'm not enjoying the road and surroundings which is the sheer purpose of riding a motorcycle! Instead I'm concentrating on changing gears, REALLY? Great invention:) Cheers!

Seems to me the people that have positive comments about the bike actually owned and rode one. The know-it-all 'hard core' people that keep talking about lawnmowers and snowmobiles don't seem to have their facts straight. I'm a Harley guy myself but I respect any sincere and honest venture to produce a product that people willingly want. These Ridley people simply didn't have enough money to stay in the game. They had to price their bikes higher than they wanted to make a profit which meant sales goals weren't met. The Harley lawsuit thing... just change the name- 'AutoRide' would have worked. Anyway- bringing back these bikes would be a great 'pet project' for someone with some serious 'disposable' cash they rather risk than give to the government.

Man I wish I could find Ridley chopper. but it's near impossible to find now and when I do it's thousands of dollars and never at a dealer that I can finance one. I wish there were more a variety automatic motorcycles available but the ones that are out there are either cheap 250cc and below bikes or they are just ugly and no offense but look like bikes for old retired people. really wish Ridley would come back or a company like harley would bring out auto transmission

good morning to you, I did a search on the web and I found you, I write from Italy and I have a special license, I practically can't use my feet because they don't have much strength, my car is modified, it has a lever brake near the steering wheel and accelerator activated by the upper acts, also I would need a motorcycle with a low seat and yours would be fine. I wanted to ask you if in Europe, better if in Italy there is a dealer or how you can do it to buy it, better if already modified in the factory with the rear brake brought to the handlebar because changing after the vehicle costs a lot in Italy. thanks for a possible reply, the idea is more than excellent of this bike with the automatic transmission and it could have a good interest in Italy since even the same scooters have an increasingly higher saddle

I don't get it either, I thought they went under in '09... maybe this smooth-talking shyster has the rights to it. Like when you go to Walmart and see a "Zenith" microwave for $52, ugh.

This is an old stock video from the days the company was still in the hands of Clay and Jay. Ridley is now completely owned by Route 66 Ridley, which is where you can buy all your parts from. Unfortunately, no new bikes are being manufactured. But if you buy a Ridley, Derek Smyth, the new owner of the company, will not only get you your parts, but will instruct your mechanic on how to service it. I too wish Ridley would be brought back into production. Maybe someday. I’d like a water cooled, fuel injected version. But I am glad to have a 2008 model, because it’s belt driven rather than the pre-2007 chain driven system.

My Son owns one. It is a fantastic Motorcycle. It's such a shame Harley fucked them over like they did. I own a Harley, and it just Pi$$es me off. Harley said they "owned the 'Glide' name", forgetting that Chevrolet coined the term "Powerglide" for their innovative two speed automatic transmissions.
@sopascat76 жыл бұрын
Harley-Davidson sued Ridley for infringement reasons ("Auto-Glide"). Since when did HD sell bikes that are "Auto-Glide"? ... Maybe Ridley can give it a go again, but maybe w/a new name & do deep research on Harley-Davidson (and other motorcycle companies) on their bikes, so they can't be sued again for infringements or any other reasons. Lots of beginner, female & older riders would enjoy driving automatic motorcycles.

@lancerooke48425 жыл бұрын
You thought wrong. I own two automatic motorcycles, one of which is a Ridley. I see little point in shifting gears. It’s a nuisance and completely unnecessary. Automatic (CVT) works perfectly.

@PaulTheSkeptic Жыл бұрын
@@lancerooke4842 I guess. If that's what you dig, I'm okay with that. But I'll tell you what. I'm also a trucker as well as a motorcycle enthusiast and I hate hate hate automatic trucks. I tend to like the way things were when everything worked well. Tube amplifiers, analogue synthesizers and gears. Hell, I still play records. They're not as convenient as just typing something into your phone but I think many would agree there's just something about an actual record album that's just appealing. Not to discount modernity or to say that everything was better back in those days. But I do tend to prefer things that are made like they were made more than the new and improved way.

Whays happening in American bike styling? Indians are a prime example All their current models.. Maybe Im just too old to see the supposed beauty. I think they are horrible. My daughter wont come into the shop to even look at them. And the Victory. Another design nightmare. And the thing is so many people are buying them , mostly older people, and they look so proud when they are out riding.And the Ridley, I cant believe how seriously that guy is selling that mini chopper with a Kohler look a like engine.What a horror. CVT is a great idea but really it only sounds good on a drag bike where the revs always stay the same. Ive listened to a few vids of CVT bikes and its a shame but they dont have that climatic buildup which presages a gearchange. Just one tone getting louder. Hope they never sell those Ridleys here in Australia,Ive got enough ugly bikes to complain about as it is.
