Hi! Love your videos! You are doing great! Wanted to say that I'm here in SB county, just a few miles north of Santa Barbara city.... and I was wondering if you get up here in the Lompoc/Vandenberg area? I go hounding at Surf beach, which has some of the smoothest rocks that come from a beach.... I've lived here for over 60 yrs, and my father was raised here... you can find some fabulous rocks and fossils, but also Native American artifacts. I also get over to Jalama beach, Santa Rosa Road, Sand Dollar hill and a few other places... anyway, keep up the great work!

I've been a few times to Jalama Beach, which to me is one of the most beautiful beaches in my area. I enjoy spending time there even outside of rockhounding :) I have never heard of the other locations you're mentioning, I'm curious to learn more!

Welcome to KZbin. Great intro video. I'm a metal hunter who recently took up rockhounding because I had little sand to look for treasure in and as Jack Sparrow once said: "Not all Treasure is Silver & Gold, Mate". Congratulations on your somewhat new adventures. I lived in California for almost 40 yrs, Oregon Coast, and had some great times at very scenic locations searching for awesome rocks. I'm now in the Philippines, and the variety is few and far between. Anyways good luck. 👍😉

Great first video! My husband and I both enjoyed watching and listening to you. You have a great voice with a wonderful accent to listen to. I don't know if you can do anything about the volume or not. I had my volume controls turned all the way up and could just barely hear you well enough. I would have increased it another notch or two if I could. Animals always help sell a KZbin channel, so you should always keep your dog with you. Also, probably a good safety measure as well. Beautiful beach and cliffs. We're looking forward to more videos. If you want to learn more about rocks, check out Currently Rockhounding, Michigan Rocks, Shawn Willsey, Theo Kellison, Agate Dad, meMiner, and Montana Rock Mom. I'm sure there are others too, but those are my favorites.

Your dog found an awesome bone. I hunt rocks and sea glass around the Monterey bay. People do look at me staring at the ground walking like a snowy plover along the tide line. 😂.

Haha, yes, I know the feeling all too well. It happened to me a few times that people asked me what I was looking for and I showed them some of my finds and they were amazed. It always makes me so happy to share the joy of finding cool rocks :)

Greetings from Northern California! This was an informative and entertaining first video 😊 One of my granddaughters is in Santa Barbara for school so my daughter and I found some nice rocks while beachcombing! I would like to know if there's any beaches near Santa Barbara that don't permit rockhounding for the next time we're in the area Good luck with your KZbin channel!

Thanks for the feedback, Nancy :) I'm glad you found your way to my channel 🤗 Navigating the rules and regulations can be tricky because they vary by State and County and who is the responsible entity for the area you're collecting rocks. I am not familiar with any beaches near Santa Barbara that don't allow casual surface rockhounding. BUT I am also not familiar with the regulations for ALL beaches we have. I recommend to do some research for any particular beach you have in mind, or ask a ranger to be on the safe side. It's definitely not allowed to collect vertebrate fossils or artifacts such as arrowheads or something. For those, it's 'catch and release' :)

Thanks for coming to my channel :) It's always hard to tell what kind of bone it is exactly. In the locations where I hunt, however, finding fossil whale and dolphin bones (or bones of their past distant relatives, I should rather say), is most likely. It's pretty small though, so I feel it's more likely that it came from a dolphin. Thanks for suggesting I should pet my dog more, I'm sure he would like that :)
