I still don't get why the infimum is always 0?

The main point is that between any two real numbers a and b in the domain there is a third real number c between a and b with f(c)=0. I hope that helps!

The "f(c)=0" part is true because of the function we are working with. There's not a name for this property. If I had to say it in English it would be, "Between any two points the function f is 0 at least once."
