Great review...thank you! This ride is exactly the type of riding I would be doing, so it was very helpful to learn the GX package will not be necessary.

Very nice video of your ride and very helpful commentary! I am still waiting for my Superdelite to arrive from Germany. You said so many things that I want to learn from someone who is a few steps ahead of me with ownership and experience. I love to hear your opinions, but I hope I will not agree with your opinion of the GX and think that I ended up with nothing because I did order the GX option and the Fox suspension option. If I find that the tires are not to my liking, I will replace them with road tires, but I will still have the dropper seatpost (which I have heard is helpful also with road riding), the horned grips with two positions to hold onto, and the sporty saddle and platform pedals, and of course the Fox suspension. At any rate, videos like yours make me more excited than ever that my Superdelite is coming. Thank you for your video. Great to hear how much you are enjoying your Superdelite!!

I have a Superdelite GX Rohloff with Fox Upgrade and I love it! Is it a must have? maybe not but you definitely make no mistake if you choose the upgrades if you can afford it.

112deeps, I received the update but I have been unable to test it for family reasons. The ride I took from the shop to home wasn’t sufficient to assess the differences. I’ll keep you posted. Cheers!

Hey Ruirod, very nice share - thinking about this bicycle as my next bike. How did you decide on the Vario vs Rohloff? I would love to better understand the ride and real world difference.
@ruirodtube4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paddy, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I decided for the Vario because I absolutely wanted the SmartphoneHub head unit which is incomparable with the electronic shifting of the Rohloff. The Vario has a lot less gear range (380%) compared with the Rohloff (526%) which means that on steep climbs your pedal cadence is very low on the Vario thus making it more difficult to climb. On the other hand the Vario is a CVT (continuous variable transmission) which makes it easy to operate.

Most of RM models have far too high gear ratio with Envolio hub: more than 2,5m with lowest gear is too long, even with assistance, when a climb becomes steep; and, on the other side, having longest gear at more than 9,5m per pedal stroke is totally useless for a non HS model (even for a HS model, more than 8,5m seems useless to me). Even with Rohloff hub, Delight and SuperDelight have too long gear ratio; it is not true with their "mountain" versions. RM should offer two options for gear ratio (short and long) dedicated for non HS and HS models. Beside that: you have a great great bike (and I agree with you: 7K Euros is not crazy for such a wonder).

Hey can you tell me the software you use for including the speedometer and elevation data please?
@ruirodtube4 жыл бұрын
Hi Docs, I use GoPro Quick which is the free software available for the GoPro camera. The GPS data itself is embedded in the video files by the GoPro camera . The GoPro Quick software uses the embedded data and displays it in the form of gauges that you can select on the software. Cheers!

Hello, so what is your feeling about the RM superdelite after riding it for 3 months ?
@ruirodtube4 жыл бұрын
Hi Philippe, I'm very happy with the bike. I already put 1.300 km on it and I was able to cover 192 km on a single charge with some battery to spare. I had no mechanical problems so far and I did zero maintenance on it: no oil on the chain, no cleaning the transmission, nothing besides the first check-up after the breaking-in period during which they updated the motor firmware to 85 Nm and re-programmed the lights to give me on/off control. Money well spent! Cheers!

@@leojonkers3181 - I know these prices seem crazy. But for perspective, you could spend the same money for a top-end touring bike, such as Co-Motion Pangea with Pinion transmission, and that bike has NO motor and NO suspension. Top-end bikes are all very expensive.
@ruirodtube4 жыл бұрын
Leo, the price is indeed crazy and I waited a couple of years to make the purchase. I only bought it when the 1.125 Wh battery became available. No other bike in the market today combines all of the great features of the R&M: 1.125 Wh, dual suspension, belt drive, CVT hub, SmartphoneHub, new gen Bosch motor... and that’s why €7.000 is justified IMO.

@@ruirodtube I like the ebikes and your videos. I've built an ebike myself and i really like it, but i still believe that a very expensive ebike with speeds more than 30kmh is a pain, because you have to get a driving licence, road tax, insurance, motorbike helmet etc. Instead you can get a moped. I've got a moped 20 years ago for just 300 euros. With one petrol fill (8 lt) you can get around 300km at 70kmh speed, no matter uphill or downhill. No expensive maintenance, just oil once per year. Is still running well, like new. The only benefit of an ebike is the body excercise and the silence of the motor. Other than that a 7000,8000 or 9000 ebike sounds crazy to me. Also i've heard many times that they need new batteries every 2-5 years and most of the batteries cost more than 1000 euros, still way more than the maintenance of a moped. Just food for thoughts.

Couldn't watch that vid because of too much left right shaking. Perhaps the handle bar is too far away from your body stratching your arms too much while riding? Else great ebike, have fun with it!

Michael V sad to ear about the swaying. I’m going to look into it. Another person commented that I may be too high on my saddle but I checked yesterday and that isn’t the problem. Now I’m going to try moving the saddle forward to come closer to the handlebars. Always looking to improve! Thanks for the help. Cheers.

I too was wondering about the side to side motion when watching this and another video review of this same bike. The next time I went out on my own e bike I checked to see whether I also went from side to side and as far as I could tell I didn’t move at all. With a motor you shouldn’t be having to make very much effort to peddle (unless you want to) so this shouldn’t be the cause. Maybe the saddle is too high?

Hello, I got my Delite a few months ago and I am still trying to improve my position on the bike. Geometry of R&M bikes is different from others brands. A Delite or Superdelite in medium size ( 51cm ) will be equivalent to a Large with Moustache, Bergamont or Trek. This is one thing to consider before buying the bike. I am between 2 sizes and the choice was hard to make. My arms are also too much stretched out but I can’t move the saddle too much forward as well. Perhaps the size below would have been a better fit. On the other hand, the sensations with the size below would have been similar to the ones on a mountain bike but it’s a trekking bike. It’s a tricky business !
