Hey Mark, when you say to dress the Marauder down to 14 mm bands, do you mean just replacing the 3 bands for thinner ones, or to replace them with 4x 14 mm rubbers?

I think as long as the power is around 300lbs it's great, the three 16mm bands are hard to load and just too punchy and less progressive on the gun

How do the custom spearguns perform compared to the raider?

My custom spearguns, as an example, Super Hybrids by Maverick American are lighter and provide custom features that appeal or are specifically suited to the diver who's shooting it. AS far as production guns go you can't beat the Riffes for the precision and reliability of the build.

I’ve shot the raider, it’s honestly alright at best, not my favorite. Not the best range or accuracy being mid handle and the shaft is very heavy for 4 bands. The Marauder at 63” euro with a thinner shaft performs much better and just as capable at taking down big pelagics as long as you have a slip tip

I hear what you're saying but all that wood is to float a heavier shaft. If you put a 7mm or even a 7,5mm shaft in the gun you end up with along whippy shaft that will bend more easily IMHO. I think it's better to shoot a heavier 5/16" shaft and take advantage of the guns beefiness to have great knockdown power you'll get with a heavier shaft.

8lbs. Our Maverick Super Hybrids by comparison w/3 bands weigh half as much if not less and don't have any recoil so to speak of, with three bands.
