Cyclops Videos Joe W Rhea Hey Joe ,I would appreciate some advice, I have an M8 Leupold and Weaver K6 ,bought 40 years ago and still going great ,I like to buy U.S made scopes but exchange rate makes it out of the question now ie Leupold vx1 3x9x40 $400.00 aus . What is a good quality reasonably priced scope that will handle recoil?Many thanks.

Mr Rhea, Firstly greetings from the U.K. - that's the little rock on you left! I enjoy your honest, and succinct appraisals of optics. No gold plating - straight to the truth. Although half of the manufacturers you mention are not available here; your comments on the remainder hit precisely. I always go to your updates for well researched facts. I started shooting in the early 70's with the Air Force, moving onto a period with the finest optics, scientific and photographic, from a Japanese manufacturer. Your knowledge and appreciation of optical characteristics, such as the various aberrations, should be remembered in all. Thank you for your guidance does not seem sufficient for the time you devote. Sincerely, thank you.

If anyone's looking to buy a tidy scope for not a lot of money I'd suggest looking on optics warehouse, I've just picked up a hawke vantage max 4.5-14 x50 for £99. The optics are superb and it has the illuminated 10x half mil dot reticle.

Thanks Joe. I'm the guy who knows basically NOTHING, so I need to be told the basics. I bought four scopes lately and I have no idea which way is the way to look into them, what to look for in a scope, what's good/bad, etc. Your $50 scope told me a lot. I have a .22 Gamo pellet airgun rifle and I do 25 yard shots. I'm not looking to shoot an elk at 1000 yards.

No such thing as a "freebie". So true. I like Hawkes, but I've found their reticles to be to thin for my old age, and their parallax doesn't get close enough for my style of hunting, which a big percent is up close and personal. But love your videos and your honesty.

Good one Joe. I do not know why but I have always bought variable power scopes. The last one was an Aztec Emerald. 5.5 to 25. But when it comes to hunting or just target shooting I pretty much stay on 10 power or may 12. That is where I am the most accurate. The higher power I can see my heart beating and it throws my shots off.

1 scope that I'm super happy about is the utg AO SWAT scope. 6 by 24 by 56. I bought it for my 35 caliber HATSAN BT 65. I wanted the HAWKE 10 by 50 by 60.... But $900 was kind of out of my price range. Hell I only paid $800 for my Gold Series Leopold for my 7mm magnum and that's my serious hunting rifle and long range rifle. Anyway I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm glad I didn't spend the money on the hawke. The $230 utg scope has been awesome. It tracks perfectly. It has given me everything I need to hunt out to a hundred yards. And let's face it how many air Gunners are going to hunt beyond that? Maybe 120 maybe 150. Anything after that is unrealistic. Anyway I've looked through a lot of glass in 25 years you use what you can afford. It also helps to know what you're doing. I have seen guys at the gun range that had $2,000 Russian scopes on their rifles that still couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. I bet you and I could go into business together. In between all the cheap Scopes that you have bought and all the cheap Scopes that I have bought and the bundle pack scopes..... We could open up a shop and at least sell to beginners. Or at least have a museum showing people what not to buy. Lol!
@CyclopsJoeVideos7 жыл бұрын
john harvey ...Lol no kidding !! I have wasted a TON of money trying to find 800$ scopes for 200$ ...It's a fools errand . Just between us , I've only owned one of the upper end Hawkeye scopes ....And I won't ever buy another one ... Wouldn't track ,wouldn't hold zero , and the side focus caused a horizontal shift ..I sold it or like 70% of what I paid and was happy to get rid of it . The budget Hawkes are a good buy .....The top line Hawkes are WAAAAYYY over priced ...IMO

Thanks Joe, I think I will get the Arken one day. But I’ve watched a ton of your reviews and I think the perfect scope for what I want right now is he Tract Toric UHD. I really like the Schott glass and the made in Japan thing. The only thing is I wish it was second focal plane. Since I found your reviews I’ve really opened my mind to other then Leupold scopes. I bought the Athlon Midas Tac and today will get the Tract Toric. I sold my VX5HD and I’m selling my VX3I LRP 6-20. Thanks again. When my PayPal is back up I’ll contribute.

Learned my lesson the hard way too... Built a badass backyard air gun plinker shooting at less than 100 yards and stuck a 4-16x 44 on it.... I got the zoom now to whack shit down the way... Well on the high power 16x setting, image was foggy as hell and even the parallax wouldn't fix it.. Best I could get was on 10 power... Eventually figured out that when I stuck 16x back on and looked about 300 yards away, the image was clear... That was the day it dawned on me, theres a reason there are small scopes and big scopes... So I ended up buying a 2-7x 20 and its crystal clear on 7x.. Doesn't even need parallax adjustment which I might add it didn't come with... Shit just works at short range.. I thought well maybe the very small lens will be shitty fov wise... Nope... Its fine... Another lesson learned... It seems the big lens is to allow more light down the tube to help at high power settings.. Well at least that's what I seem to think after playing around with my scopes..

Hello. As I’ve stated before you definitely do the best scope reviews out of everybody. By far. And I used to sell rifle scopes and I still say that. My question now is I’m thinking of getting another scope. I just ordered an Athlon Midas Tac 5-25x56 and I’m thinking getting another one but I think I really like the Arken EP-4 and this time I can wait the 4 months for the Arken! 4 months! Between the 2. Which would you do? I am definitely guilty of brand loyalty! Leupold, love Leupold. It is made in America but they don’t parallax down enough and I like putting them on my.22’s. But I’m done. I have to broaden my horizons.

I've just acquired a budget hunting rifle (Mauser M18 in 308 Win) which I hope to use for wild boar and the occasional deer or the like. I'm really lost as to what scope to get. Trying to narrow down to Leupold, Sightron, Vortex, Minox...maybe Noblex. Something in the region of $500-$800 (I'm not a regular hunter, no need to spend too much, but I need something good quality). I'm in Europe, the selection is quite good. I'd love to get one with hold-over and mil-hash, but cannot find anything really. If it's with the right magnification, then it's got the wrong reticle, etc, etc. Really, really tough choice. My first outing might be a driven hog hunt. so a good red dot might do the trick, but I do need to think about a good scope. Any advice is appreciated! Cheers!
@CyclopsJoeVideos4 жыл бұрын
Jon i would recommend the Delta scopes If available where you live and the Minos scopes . They are better than Leupold for the same money . I’m testing a Delta 1-6 Stryker right now that is incredible . Great glass and a easy to see reticle that’s illuminated

@@CyclopsJoeVideos Indeed! I was just looking at the Delta. I already have a Stryker 5-50x56 (yes, same mistake with over-magnification, I rarely go beyond 24x) and super happy with it.
