Made one of these last night. Had most of the parts in hand already. Thanks for the idea. It took me 25 minutes to put together.

I like this!!!!!! Got a Crosman 760 that I've been trying to get sighted in, and been thinking of a rest to insure repeated gun placement. This is the ticket.... Cheap and simple.

Built this almost exactly. Works great, but just a word of warning, if you have a larger rifle, those hooks will still scratch. This is due to the hooks having a narrower spacing at the top. If you just take off the top of the hooks, it works perfectly. (Yugo Mauser and Marlin 336. It worked perfectly for my 10/22 without alteration.)

Thank you! I put this together in no time flat. Works GREAT! Tested it out with several rifles and just loved it. Saved me lots of time and money! Thanks again....May our Lord bless you!

Seen a few designs for DIY rests/vices, this looks like a great design, simple and sturdy. I will try to wrangle something different than the dollar store hangers to hold the gun in place. Maybe I can just give them a squeeze with some grips.

Very nice simple design at low cost! I like it. Builders' note: When drilling the holes for the thread inserts drill the shallow outer diameter first with a butterfly (spade) bit. Better resistance for the short depth and the point will leave a centering/ starting hole for the through bore! Instead of epoxy you can use two short round head wood screws to retain the insert. No muss, no fuss, no dry time!

Great idea! Thanks. I have also added a nut between the wing nut and threaded insert to act as a jamb nut. It makes adjusting much faster then spinning the carriage bolt by hand.

Great idea and build...My kind of project.. I think you will find in practice that you will need a vertical adjustment on just about every shot and your bolts are not quite handy enough for that...I'd do away with the front fork and replace it with a sand bag which can be "scrunched" each shot for that perfect elevation.adjustment

clever work! I like! Minimum time, maximum functionality
@reezoshideout12 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, I'll try and start with a 3" total anyway, since I see your guns rest fairly parallel to the 19" plank. You are right that..once the gun is leveled, it is leveled anyway regardless of the stand..but I'll still get a 3" upper pedestal, like yours, to get a good start ;)

Hi anthony, Holes are drilled all the way thru the short 2x4 piece. The carriage bolts are 6" long and are threaded in from the bottom, and protrude thru to the top. Hope thatmakes sense.

@monarkpro1712 жыл бұрын
Hi, these are just standard 2x4's. They are roughly 1.5" each or 3" total. The carriage bolts make plenty of adjust-ability on both front and back. In fact the hooks you install can be screwed in more or less to accommodate your particular gun , no worries.

@jeffreyyoung41044 жыл бұрын
WOW! Great idea! Thanks for your cool design, I am going to do the same, but with a 2X6 or 2X8 I have, instead of stacking the front blocks. If it works, I may post it for others to use as they wish. Did you ever take the time to paint or do other finishing details? The locking carriage bolt feet is excellent! It gives the best three point leveling I have seen from all the other designs!
@monarkpro173 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, I never did paint or finish it. I wanted something that could be treated like a hammer or screwdriver. I have enough things that need attention or extra care. Glad the video inspired you. I bet you made some improvements.

Hi, I believe the hooks are intended for holding rakes, shovels, etc. They are 50 cents each at a store called Menards.
@monarkpro1712 жыл бұрын
Hi, Maybe you can split the back half into two pieces. Then drill holes equally spaced apart in those two halves. You could use a carriage bolt and thumb screw or two to adjust the length to your gun? Just a thought. Good luck.

Great, the only thing I would do in addition or differently is either use threaded inserts or epoxy the T nuts with an overnight drying epoxy. They want to work loose after awhile. Also, make sure the epoxy doesn't get on the treads. Good luck
@Texcajun062 жыл бұрын
If you get epoxy on the threads, wait till it dries then clean it out with a 3/8-16 tap, otherwise, I like this approach.
@GFWoodchuck9 жыл бұрын
I'm going to build something similar. Though I will make the center board longer so the gun will be on a bag closer to the butt. And I'll be using bags to put the gun on.
