Awful boots....80/81 earliest issue to my knowledge. We always bought US boots from de Boras or Silvermans or if close to a PX.

Thanks for the info, I'd assumed '80s introduction given how long the previous canvas and rubber pattern seem to have soldiered on for. What was their major failing in use?

They were not treated for rot and did not have the steel midsole either.

I got 2 pairs of American Jungle boots circa 1966, brand new, not used for the Vietnam War, expensive but worth it, the best boots i have ever owned, superb.

The American boots are great, the British copies not so much!

Not sure when these were phased out but the jungle boots I was issued in the mid 90s were US made ones. Around 95 I think we're the green canvas then in 97 was the black canvas type

Andrew Johnston I remember all black issue jungle boots entered service here in the US in 1990. I bought a pair as soon as they were available and got alot of strange looks as many didn't know they were available--especially since I was Air Force (hell we had only recently got rid of overall OD uniforms and went to woodland camo!).

@@mh53j I hated when I had to replace my green jungle boots and all the PX had was the black ones. Thought the green ones just looked better, even though the speed lace loops on the black jungles were convenient.

We had US issued in Belize

The US design was far superior, as far as I'm aware these British made examples didn't remain in service for long.

Mine are made by GBB and dated 1988.

Cheers Allen, no date on these ones unfortunately. They are marked C.E.M.A, any ideas?

Rifleman Moore CEMA stands for Construction Electric Mediano Automatico - a method of moulding rubber soles onto leather uppers used by Clarks. In other words DMS!

Good Review any idea who the manufacturer was ? I guess no markings inside
@RiflemanMoore6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm just sorry I can't provide any better answer as to how good they are as a jungle boot. Not sure on manufacturer, they are marked on the sole, size 11S and C.E.M.A which I presume to be the manufacturer but I can't find information which company the initials belong to. I believe some DMS desert boots are also marked C.E.M.A on the sole.

Have seen some about in Australia, almost bought some before I realised how inferior they were to my US made ones I was trying to replace! I don't think they were ever issued down here but I believe American ones were on a limited basis. As a matter of fact I have seen around various museums, here in aussie, an unusual version of the US jungle boot that had a mostly canvas forefoot up to the to cap. An unusual example I've only seen in Australia... I'll try to find a link and post it!
