Interesting video. Very well presented. Don't know what to play on the 12 strings? There are so many classics from Pink Floyd, Eagles, Beatles, Ozzy, etc. Would be cool you do a video using 12 strings as rythm and electric for leads. 🙂

I live in Annapolis where Paul Reed Smith lives, have run into him a few times and had 2 conversations with him. Most down - to-earth guy. He asked me for a business card and a week later he sent me a signed catalog, hat, sticker. Most guys like that would never follow through. Unlike Gibson, PRS is run by, and employs guitar geeks/players. Bought my first PRS in '86. Store owner told me "the guy who makes these was selling them at NAMM. He' s a guitar mad scientist."

I can totally understand the story behind that PRS. I came from a very poor household and I as a pre teen, 11/12 years old, took a paper round 7 days a week, it wouldn't be allowed now, I'm talking 1974/1975, to buy the shittest guitar possible for £7.00! An acoustic, I had to teach myself, my mum used to go hungry to feed me and my brother, so lessons were out. As I learned and grew older, things went well for me. I ended up with a decent job, played professionally for 20 or so years and eventually settled into a happy stay at home happily married bloke with a great little home studio entertaining myself and my lovely singing Wife. During my professional life I was lucky to be gifted instruments and amps at cost price. I often passed these on to help others, remembering my start in music. You are a very talented player and I hope you go on to great things. You bring happiness to a lot of people, good luck with your future.

When you first picked up your PRS I had to look twice. It's similar in shape and finish to an Ibanez Iron label I bought unexpectedly coming across another that a friend had. The guitar is made of seven exotic woods and has abalone binding body and head. With black binding on the neck and what looks like metal or iron vining inlays on the fretboard. If you want to try an awsome sounding 12 string look for a Yamaha FG230. I have a 69 that I bought from the same friend. These guitars if kept in constant temperature will age well. And produce a sound you have to hear to believe. Paired with a tone wood amp its like heaven.

Favourite Guitar Pedal would be my Helix Floor. No doubt its a lot like your Boss GT1000 and it maybe a bit of a cheat to call it a 'Pedal' but its just so versatile. Its an all in one unit and the only 'pedal' you could need. It has everything you could want on a pedal board - tuner, OD, Boost, Wah, Volume, Looper, Delay, Reverb, EQ etc - and that's without considering all the Amps, Cabs, Mics it has as well as able to load IR's too. It works well with my PRS Hollowbody with Piezo as I can plug the Piezo output into it as well and keep it separate from the Magnetics signal path. As I said, it maybe a bit of a cheat, but I would rather have just this pedal than just a great OD, TS, Delay or Reverb...

My favorite pedal is my original 1973 Fender Fuzz/Wah. That pedal (not the one I have but the one Slash has) is all over GNR's AFD album. Sophie, you should really dump that Dunlop wah in the bin or donate it to some poor unlucky soul and get a Vox wah. So much better quality. Randy Rhoads told me that's what he was using on BOO and DOAM. Yes, I met RR and saw him twice and yes, I'm one old MoFo (53).

Hi Sophie, My favourite pedals are delay pedals. I have 3: a Flashback and a Beta-Alvin DD-2 chained together, and a Boss PS-2. I don't use the pitch shifter on the PS-2 as it gets the shift a bit wrong. I like to set a long delay with sometimes a short delay too and play along with myself, adding in other effects to make the sound more interesting. For an amp I mostly use my Hughes and Kettner TubeMeister Delux 20 (20 Watt). Lunch-box sized, 2 channels + boost foot switchable, and it has a lot of options on the back for connecting into a DAW etc. Nice to see you giving Jake's pick-ups and guitars a boost. They are well worth a bit of extra promotion.

Thanks for the great video Sophie. You are very endearing. Clearly your partner is a very talented lutheir since that first Parkhurst sounded so good. IT looked and sounded like the best guitar of all of them. Your guitar collection is great and thanks for describing your pedals and amps and what they do. We love that Spark "thing" right. Towards the end of your video you ask the viewers what pedal mean the most to them and why. Sophie, i have a TRIPLE answer to your question. (gear that means a lot to me) 1) A pedal that has been sold for over 30 years (even today) and has survived. The digitech Whammy. Maybe Digitech PATENTED the "Digitech Whammy pedal" in 1989 and so nobody has ever been allowed to copy it since....?......... It's still sold new today.....? I love the Digitech Whammy for one reason alone, it was very integral in the making of my favorite ever record "Heaven or Las Vegas" (it's been my favorite record for over 25 years). 2) i love the "Jam origin" Midi guitar Laptop software. It's just SO amazing (words can't describe how cool it is) 3) i love the Antares Auto tune (solid tune intonation) guitars......... they were made around 2007 (Peavey at-200 guitar) . There are lutheirs who will retro-fit the ANTARES HARDWARE KIT into any guitar you choose today. (it's a PC jammed into the insides of the guitar) ................However Sophie, i think that these days, a lot of people just go with a dedicated Hardware solution for intonation such as the "Evertune Bridge" Those bridges are "amazing" and Evertune will fit one to any guitar you give them, with shipping and taxes......for about $500. You can even get new ready built guitars containing the Evertune for about $500 now. Ibanez etc. I know of several prominent guitarists who are using "retro fitted" ANtares auto tune guitars today. (solid tune intonation) ....... Kurt Hammet of Metallica has been using one for the last 5 years and it's a MUST for all studio work ......but is also very good for live. Evanescence used them on the first 2 albums. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Moody) He has a Peavey in the pic there. best wishes.

I have favorite effects in different categories. For boost/tone shaping, I’ll take the trusty ol TS808 Tubescreamer; for more aggressive drive, Friedman BE OD; chorus goes to the Boss CE5, phase shifter of choice is probably the Pigtronix EP2, but since it’s power hungry and takes up too much pedal board real estate, I use an EHX Small Stone Nano; flange for me is the MXR Flanger; delay is MXR Carbon Copy. Noise gate of choice is the SMG Cock Blocker tuner is a Boss TU3 and the wah is a Dunlop JC95 crybaby

My favorite kind of pedal has to be overdrive, I currently use a simple but classic Ibanez TS9 (no mods) and a Roaring Drive by a local brand called ZHN, it's my favorite sound so far, everyone who listens to both overdrives agrees that the ZHN sounds wayy better than the Ibanez, though I use them to get a different color of lead tone, tubescreamer for the more cleanish vintage bluesy stuff, and roaring drive for the warmer more modern tones, although also great for more agressive kinds of blues (like Bonamassa)

@@SophieBurrell Also that your Strat is one of the best ones because it came with the custom shop pickups or something along those lines. Great video.

Favorite guitar pedal line 6 Helix. I run the Helix four cable method into my EVH 50w 6l6 amp and cab and use the Helix just for fx. It's become my sound and it's hard to use anything else like analog pedals. Honorable mention is I love the flashback delay pedal. I accidently broke mine using the wrong power ac adapter. It was the flashback with the 3 delay select. I think was called x4. Anyways that pedal sounded amazing through the fx loop of the Helix. I might have to get that pedal again and put it in the fx loop of the Helix.

Super ! Hello from France Sophie. Do you use the Boss Katana pedal (which I find a bit expensive), if not what? I'm using boss tone studio for now. You could make a demo of it.

Talking all things gear? Sounds a m a z i n g Not really a pedal per-se, but I really like the Vibrato on my mk I boss katana 50, sounds really good with cleans. Also, do you have a favorite pickup and what types do you usually lean towards?
