Great video! That rare instance when a short guide to Riga is actually right :) P.S Almost right, you forgot to mention that in 1940 the USSR occupied Latvia, and in 1939 all Baltic Germans had to move out, according to the pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviets, also Soviets departed to Siberia in 1940 tenths of thousands of people from Latvia and Baltic states. But I guess, it is just details for the world :)

Yes, that’s true. What happened to the Baltic Germans is actually similar to what happened to the Saxons in Transilvania. The the persecution post WW2 of Latvians was really horrible

@@GuglielmoBiason If I remember correctly, almost 15 million Germans of all kinds were replaced during and after WWII, and more than 2 million civilians were killed. Horrors happened to civilians in East Prussia and it was well sanctioned by the Red Army. In Bohemia, Sudeten Germans lived centuries before Slavs came, but they were brutally resettled from Czechoslovakia, even killed in the process, already after WWII. In general, WWI-II and its aftermath was really really really bad for Europe, even civilized people sometimes could do horrible things to each other, unfortunately... Only officially 1 million (but there were more victims) Wolgadeutsche were forcibly transferred to Siberia and Kazakhstan, to GULAG camps etc. Sad
