A keel is fixed to the hull and usually has considerable weigh to it. Dinghies like sunfish have daggerboards.

Fantastic! and Entertaining! recomendations: 1) use a timber hitch instead of a clove hitch, 2) raising the sail is easier if the eye on the gooseneck is on the starboard side of the boom, the same side as the block, 3) the daggerboard goes in with the straight edge forward. bon voyage!

Wonderful presentation! I noticed that you lost your eye after 4 weeks of plundering the high seas. I hope it heals up. Thank you for an informative and entertaining video!

The daggerboard is to help point to windward for directional stability you pull it up going downwind you dont need it to steer you have to have movement over rudder to steer

Awesome video! I love the Sea Scouts sweatshirt! Your Venture Crew Advisors should be able to use this video to get you well underway on a Bronze Award (it's called something different now but it's the same)! I'll be saving this video for teaching the Crew how to rig MY sailboat! Thanks! VC2170 Advisor

Kudos for showing how to tie the halyard to the spar, but you have the daggerboard ("keel") in backwards.

Good vid; I've heard from others that the sail framework should be on the left side of the mast instead of the right side...(Don't see as it makes a difference, but that's what I've heard ....)Whatever...

It's not a keel it's a daggerboard,just so you know
@alexblair_67326 жыл бұрын
Stephen Willingham the keel is for a monohull and the daggerboard is the same thing but for catamarans
@matthewnuzzi59125 жыл бұрын
Well a dagger board is usually removable and a keel may be but is extremely hard.
