Very nice solution for locking the outboard in the raised position. Modifying that bracket was a much a better idea than welding extra stops onto the motor mount. Now, it'll be satisfying to hear that click every time the motor securely locks up. Lots of variety in this episode, lots of progress. Edit, after watching outro: I do enjoy watching work, as long as some of the less interesting tasks such as sanding or painting large areas can be judiciously edited. Time-lapse can make even long repetitive jobs entertaining, and I think Peter on "Geordie", and Damian on "Brupeg" edited and often shot by Jess, are a couple of particularly good examples of many boat-tubers who are using it brilliantly. Shooting and editing to these standards obviously takes a lot of time and effort, experience and even inspiration. But I also find it very entertaining to be shown a number of completed projects or components, and progress reports on others, with explanations of what you've done. Please keep it up the way you're doing, unless the video production side starts to appeal more, or unless you can rope someone in as production manager.

The last video we put out on our Tiki 21 build Episode 44 was raising the mast. detailing baby stays, and using the halyards to haul the mast up, etc, etc. . .Like you life got in the way to finish our build. Glad you are still making progress. Will be watching.

Great to see well-made videos about Wharrams. I am looking forward to following your adventures on the water, and seeing how you develop your little ship! Great Job all-round!

Thanks so much for the kind words. The feedback is really encouraging. I’ll do my best to document!

Additional comment - when raising the mast, the trick is to have some temporary "baby stays" tied 2/3rds of the way up the mast, fastened "in line" with the base of the mast, so as the mast raises, they don't get much tighter or looser. This stops the mast flopping from side to side as it gets raised, which is the only real challenge. Then, use a "gin pole", (which could be the boom if it seems strong enough), tied close to the bottom of the mast at one end, and the mainsheet halyard fastened to the other, forming an equilateral triangle. You have probably gone through YT videos on mast raising, to get the idea. Its much easier than you might think.

Loving following your build - it looks great. I've been Wharram-curious for such a long time - seen them everywhere. I don't know how you came upon that colour for the cross beams, but it's a winner! Regarding the outboard, perhaps you might consider not abandoning the additional support at the lower end - when you're under way in choppy seas, it will flog about a fair bit and could test that hinge arrangement. Perhaps a 1" webbing strap secured with velcro (like a surf-board strap) between the cavitation plates, so that it is tight and doesn't interfere with the prop. Thanks for sharing.

Good idea. I do have some rubber material I may at least make a pad out of in case the motor hits the beam. Thanks for the comment!

That rigging looks solid. I might have to try the traveler. Great looking vessel all around and u built it. Exciting!

Very interesting to watch. About the wind vane, that supporting wire, that is held in place by the two nylon clamps. I suggest bending an L shape at the end of the wire touching the mast, and clamp that L shape flat, to prevent the whole wire rotating and creating a vertical wind vane. A heavy bird, or bumping while alongside, can create a nuisance. I think the whole project is going very well. Edit. Good resolution to the motor lifting lock. I think from memory, many motor manufacturers recommend some temporary leg support in the upraised position while travelling by road. The vibration on the trailer can bend the retaining mechanism for some motors, causing the motor to drop down.

Thanks. The wind vane is actually in there Really tight and would take quite a bit To rotate but I see what you’re saying and that did cross my mind. Btw the outboard will travel in my truck and only installed when the boats in the water.

Where will you sail?

Probably will launch first on the snake river in clarkston wa. Then take to lake coeur d’Alene and pend orielle. Hope to trailer to coast and SoCal when visiting family.
