Brilliant! Could you tell me the name of the second, faster tune? Thanks.

In your tutor, by your description, one would assume that you're suppose to rest you hand (the "karate chop" spot) on the tailpiece. However, you are obviously not doing that here. Any comments?

Randall Cotten hey Randall (Enda here) its a guide to a point at which the picking hand works best when supported. Tailpiece, or strings behind bridge is the best guess point at which to rest the heel of the hand. That is a particularly involved piece of music with a lot of tremolo triplets, so a bit more wrist action is needed, possibly explaining the right hand position during the second faster reel. Hope that helps! It’s all essentially a guide to best positioning, different hands will need slight adjustments

I'm a beginner on the tenor. No teacher except your book. I'm workning through the exercises in vol. 1. It feels best when the armrest supports mu arm. But when I rest my hand on the tailpiece, I can play Crowley's Reel, but by hand wants to rest on the armrest. I will keep on looking for the best place to rest my arm. Thanks a million!
