How you feel about 2020 times now? Did your prospective changed or did it get sharpen with the war in Ukraine?

The bit at 22:09 is particularly hard to watch. Even though this series tries to more honestly portray things than earlier accounts they whiffed greatly in the description of the rescue of "the Lost Battalion." To say that the Nisei troops were decimated in that little action is a gross understatement. Decimated means to have lost one in ten. The figure was closer to four times that. And the whole endeavor was necessitated by incompetent generalship. To then have General Mark Clark, a particularly incompetent general in his own right, decorating the survivors just adds insult to injury.

Sadly not uncommon for both generals and admirals. The Admiral in command at Tassafaronga got a medal for screwing up so bad that that battle is considered the worst defeat in the History of the US Navy in a fair fight. Savo Island had a number of very tired crews caught half asleep. Tassafaronga we were attacking; hugely more powerful; and had the element of surprise.
