These types of videos need to be played in every drivers Education facility in the country. At least basic truck knowledge for car drivers to understand what were doing instead of flipping us off.

Completely opened up the right lane. Does not block the right lane, very dangerous maneuver.

Yeah, Dave from the Smart Trucking channel has a story. Some woman in a mini cooper tried to dart through from. . .behind. There wasn't much of a reacharound. . .😏

I am not a trainer but I use more of the left lane of the street I am entering so I did not have to leave as large of a gap between the right curb and my trailer on the street I am turning from. Even though you say your trailer is blocking the right lane as you approach the intersection, there is a lot of room for a 4 wheeler to come in alongside of you as you are turning with the way you are instructing drivers to do it.

The turn in the diagram is not necessary, it’s a easy right by moving slightly left to block part of lane, maybe 2 feet over and sharp right.

That's what all of my ATS & ETS 2 experience has taught me. Those turns are pretty tight and the four wheelers are real life stupid, too.

This looks like a nightmare if an impatient driver tries to undercut you from the inside

Exactly.

For 33 years my company pushed, and I used the button hook. This bothered me. You have your right blinker on so 4 wheelers expect you to turn right. Then you swing out into the left lane at the start of your button hook. I did some crazy stuff with my signal lights in those type turns. Love the button hook.🦇

Or, paint Driver Training on both sides of your trailer.

what if there is traffic in the other lane. you capture this video when there is no traffic make it easier .

could you talk about turning from 2 rt-hand turn lanes into 2 rt lanes? I've searched all over and ALL elucidators seem to avoid that topic like the plague. I'm puzzled.
@lastsocial03052 жыл бұрын
Stay in the outermost right lane, carry depth out as you would normally to clear tandems, watch the trailer on both sides and just turn into the lane.
@dustbat Жыл бұрын
Years ago, as a rookie my company taught me "some states say you must finish your turn in the same lane you started." So if I started the button hook in the rt lane when I got clear enough I head for that inside lane. Seldom did I pull into on coming traffic as with the hook, I had all the room I needed. However sometimes a driver must do what a driver must do.🦇

Thanks! This is the first definitive reply I've ever gotten to this question. I'm still awaiting an answer from an "authoritative" source. They seem to avoid all my queries like the plague!@@lastsocial0305

Extremely dangerous accident waiting to happen. Your trailer should never leave the right lane.
@boxelder914723 күн бұрын
Thats the way I was trained. Tractor shouldnt either. Go deep into intersectio from the rightmost lane and turn when ass end of trailor is at the curvature of right side.

This is a poor example or a sample of a right turn... it's best to use The Jug Handle turn Blocking the curbside so a car won't become trapped between the trailer and the curb.
@offroadvehiclelover2 жыл бұрын
This example only shows when it's completely clear to the side tractor trailer turned, 99% of the time ppl will pass the solid white line making it impossible to clear the turn without taking a light post or car in front of the white line. In other words, pretty useless video.
