They were called the blue eyed soul. I can see why. Great open reaction for someone so young. I love open minded young people like yourself. Keep it up and please listen to some more songs by these guys. They had other good ones.

Sadly one half of the team who wrote this song passed away yesterday. RIP Cynthia Weil. Thank you to her and her husband for writing so many hit songs during our lifetime. ❤

This song was by both of the Righteous Brothers. Bill Medley is the big tall guy baritone. The tenor was Bobbie Hatfield.

They had several hit records on the 60s, "Unchained Melody" was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group at the 1991 Grammy, awarded the Best New Singing Group in the Billboard Disc Jockey Poll in 1965, and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2003. 🙌

Nope, that didn't happen. However, there were some black-owned radio stations that stopped playing them when they discovered they were white. They played only black artists no matter how much their listeners liked the song. Wish people would stop making up untrue back stories.

@@teresadavilasoares6136 With your edit, what did you change? For 1 they weren't blocked from playing any black clubs. I suppose there could have been a black-owned club in Orange county, California, but why would they not hire white singing group? (The population is European, Hispanic, Asian, a very, very small percentage is Black.) As I said before, there were, however, some black-owned radio stations, when they first had national hits, that stopped playing them when they realized they were white. Station policy was black artists only, even if the singers or songs were popular with the audience. They were accepted no matter race immediately. It was black marines from the El Toro Marine base, in Orange county, that started calling them righteous brothers when they played at a club near the base. It was a black DJ in Philadelphia who started calling them his blue-eyed soul brothers. Hence, the name blue-eyed soul. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

@@Aurora-tp3dy Hi. 😊 I was trying to write in english after the portuguese. I’m from África-Mozambique and live also in South Africa, familiar with apartheid. And of course we followed the figth against segregation. Back in the 60s We only listen and dance their music on the radio. I was delighted to “ discover” them so many years later ! And was fascinated by their performances, it’s absolutely wonderfull. And had to read and listen interviews about them. Sorry if I mistake some information. It was only recent when I found vídeos in KZbin and saw how they were ❤

@@teresadavilasoares6136 🙋🏼‍♀️ I was trying to translate the Portuguese using my knowledge of Italian, but then realized that is a good way to get into trouble. I used a translator so as not to misinterpret what you were saying. 😁 So, you did better than I did. I absolutely understand you don't get the whole picture of what was going on back then in the US...a lot depended on where you were and individual people's attitudes. It's amazing and wonderful that the Righteous Brothers are so appreciated to this day all around the world. Take care

Nice. No denigration of women but rather adoration, no vulgar language or drugs or violence (imagine that!) or complaining or autotune. Soul and Inspiration is my favorite song of theirs. If you watch it, do the black and white version.

Soul n Inspiration you must react to by the Righteous brothers. I grew up during this time period n we didn't have Autotune. Pure Voice. I met Bill Medley years ago n you can tell he loves music. He is still singing in his 80's with a different guy. Bobby Hatfield died in 2003 at the age of 63. Bill really misses Bobby n says there will never be another Bobby with that great tenor voice. Bobby worked hard singing those high notes. They say most women can't hit those high notes.

You've picked the right song to hear both of them singing together. I can't wait for your reaction. I never thought about it like that but you're right, strong and soft at the same time, good ear! If y'all don't stop talking about their mics...😂🤣😅 You should teach the younger and the older men what you to do. If they did this, there would be so many happy men out here. They're not related brothers and they got their name by a black man at a Marine Base that said, "You're righteous brother" after a performance. SUBSCRIBED.
