I watch these reactions for three moments- the first time Medley says "Baby", the first time Hatfield jumps in and people hear his tenor on its own, and "Bring It On Back." Worth the watch every time.

I believe Elvis Presley was blue eyed soul. I’m 68 & am from that generation. Forget all the rock songs he sang, listen to the deeper ones. Like “In the Ghetto” he grew up from poverty. Then their is “If I Can Dream” about the assassinations of Martin Luther King & President Kennedy. He had soul.

It is amazing, that performance was done in December 1964, and the Unchained Melody performance you reviewed was a few months later in 1965. Between that time color was invented by John G. Color - it made all the difference in the world. Before then the world was in black, white and shades of gray! Just joshing, of course. Seriously, a really good reaction to two of the best performances ever recorded. Sadly Bobby Hatfield passed from this world 19 years ago (2003) - WAY too young, we really miss him. People, PLEASE don't do drugs, Bobby died from a cocaine induced heart attack.

"The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century. "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby's use of "Runs" is brilliant. He is the master of the technique and started the trend. 7 notes just to say the word "I".... Their name came when they did a show in a smaller venue and a black man told them…. You two Brothers are Righteous. They created the sound and set the table that all Soul Music fed from for decades to come. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Bill Medely dies a solo of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" just blew me away. And if course Bobby's "Unchained Melody" is (words are failing me!!) just righteous!!! His 1965 live version!! When Bill sang his solo if Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" I just melted. These med were sooooo very soulful!! Keep them going younger generation!!!! 🥰❤️🌹☮️🎼🎵🎶 Keep them going!!! 🎼🎶🎵❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹

Fabulous reaction. Loved that you didn't stop it many times to talk. You facial reaction during the video said it all. Most people back in the day thought they were black only hearing them on the radio...and were "shocked" to learn they were white seeing them on TV. Blue Eyed Soul this was called. Playing in a black club in their early days before fame (very unusual at the time for whites) someone shouted : " That's righteous, brothers! " and that's how they got their name. 😊

By the time I was old enough to develop any kind of taste I was sort of spoiled on music since there was so much great music at the time, we just took it for granted that there was lots of great music. There's alot of History with these Guys. They were performing in San Franciso on a Navy Base and the Sailors who were mostly Black and they said "That's Righteous Brothers!" and thus the name stuck. This Song is next to "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin the most frequently played Song in the History of The Radio. This was part of Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound which was one of the very songs he worked on after The British Invasion, the other being "River Deep Mountain High". You may have seen "him" in "What's Love Got To Do With It". This Song was Written by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil a Husband & Wife Songwriting Team who are Legends who got an Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Also this Show that you're watching is Shindig a Popular Rock & Roll Show from the 1960's. The Three Black Ladies on The Right are The Blossoms who were the Backing Vocalists on The Show and the Fellows were The Wellingtons and the Ladies in The Background were The Dancers. The Lady in The Middle is Darlene Love who worked with everyone from Cher to Elvis Presley on his Comeback Special in 1968 If you can check out The Four Tops Singing Sugar Pie Honey Bunch. They also made History by being on the very first Cover of Tiger Beat which is now America's Longest Running Teen Magazine that debuted in 1965. Their Sister Magazine was Right On That Debuted In 1970. The Magazine was owned by Lloyd Thaxton who had his own Show that featured Ben E. King Singing Stand By Me. Glad You Enjoy it. I bought The Phil Spector Box Set in the 1980's and the Music on that CD are Masterpieces.
