Thinking of Joseph and Jeremiah. Why they suffered so much? Is that part of the growth with Jesus? Are we to suffer in growth with Him as the Christian walk?

Not all people are Jeremiahs or Josephs. But all genuine Christians will be made to suffer in some way by the enemy. You can count on it. God doesn't prescribe suffering, but when it happens we can exercise faith and learn to depend on God more and more.
