Rights are those claims of an individual which are recognised by law and sanctioned by society. Rights are for citizens in democratic society for maintaining their dignity, the right is not considered as right until it is recognised by law if a claim is not recognised by law it will be an 'moral right ' . The Constitution provides fundamental rights to citizens , these rights are justiciable by law fundamental rights are added in the Constitution by amendments, fundamental rights are not absolute they can be taken by the government under certain circumstances. Rights are of two types 1. Human rights (Natural rights) These are the natural rights that human beings have by their birth, these rights can't be robed or taken by any ruler of government 2. Rights by law These rights include right to life, Right to liberty, these rights provide safeguard to individual. The basic conception of rights is given by Emanuel kant - Everything either had a price or dignity. Desirable claims can't be considered as rights. Example, hijab in schools these are desirable rights by one community which can't be accepted by law because it hurts the dignity of other communities too. The rights provide limitations to government in their diecision making and policy making government cannot make policies that violates fundamental rights ( ARTICLE-13). Kinds of rights that government provide to citizens : 1. Political rights People must have the right to participate in political matters. 2. Civil rights Right to express. 3. Economical rights This right works to cover economical inequality in society. 4. Cultural and educational rights This rights provide right for education to citizens and to protct their culture.

Rights is a justified claim which is reasonable,acceptable, applicable for all and sanctioned by law.This type of claim is enshrined in our constitution to maintain dignity of each and every individual. Notion of rights is change from time to time because it is just like a newly born baby or child. We see that demand and needs of child change and start increasing when he/ she start grow just same as when country and technology develop time to time demands and rights of their citizens changes according to that.For example in ancient time right to vote for women was not important but it is mandatory today, right to internet is also not important in ancient time but its demand increase after advancement of science and technology. Rights is important for us because (1) It ensures the dignity of the individual as a human beings. (2) It gives a way to live a life in a respectable and in peaceful manner. (3) It gives us opportunity to every individual to develop their talents. (4) It protect us from external illegal constraints either from any other individuals or from state. (5) It gives us an entitlement to enjoy our basic things like to live in a peaceful way , speech and expression without harming others rights etc.

Que.- what is rights and why are they important? What can be the appropriate grounds for claiming rights? Ans.- The word authority is derived from two Sanskrit words Adhi and Kaar where adhi means dominance and kaar means action. A right is basically an entitlement or a claim that can be justified. It tells what we are entitled to as citizens and human beings. Such claims which were approved by the society and whose approval is mandatory and be legal recognized. But that does not mean that what i consider necessary and desirable should be a right. That is, there is a difference between what i want and what i consider myself entitled to and what can be mentioned as a right. Rights consumes facilities for the development of individuals. This facilities or rights only a person gets mental, physical, and moral opportunity. In short it is a necessary disorder for the life of a person with authority, which is necessary for the development and is legally recognized. The following are two suitable grounds for claiming rights. (1) The first foundation of rights is what i and others consider important for living a life of dignityand respect.
