Riha - Anuv Jain || Cover by Melissa Srivastava

Anuv Jain is one of my favourite artists. His music is so calming, I can sleep to it. Riha is a song that I hold very close to my heart. My chest feels heavy when I listen to it but in a very “this is so close to me” way. I am so grateful that I get to listen to his music. He is such a gem. I feel like he deserves more recognition for his art. Hopefully, he’ll get it all one day. Hopefully he’ll never stops making music.
I had so many of you all asking me to cover this song. I feel like I could have done a better job, but this is all I could do having my chest carry all the congestion it possibly could. I might try covering it again once I get better, but for now this is all I have for you. I hope you all are safe and well. COVID is getting very scary. I have a lot of people getting affected because of this entire situation and it’s absolutely breaking my heart. I really really hope that things get better. Please please be safe. Very fortunately, there are a couple of things that are in your hands that you can do to keep yourself safe. So please follow the precautions. You matter. And you don’t want anything to happen to you, for people who love you. Take care please.

In my college, I madly and most ardently fell in love with a guy, one of my best friends. It was the 25th of December. He made me shatter all my belief system which I formed for more than 15 years in the closet. He was the wall I broke to come out. He was the force behind me finally accepting that I can love a man too. I sang this song for him. He said he would rather listen to me than Anuv. We rarely talk these days. I do not listen to this song. I get overwhelmed and it is just too much for me. I am listening to your cover today and there is a deluge of emotions coming. Thankyou for this. I can relate to this. I really like my best friend I knew that he didn't like me back but he promised that we'll keep the friendship as it is. we spoke to each other everyday for the first time in my life I felt that someone appreciated me for who I am, heard me. but now we barely talk he ignores my messages. Very Beautifully Sung Melissa.. I saw Baarishein, first I saw yours and then I saw Anuv Jain's. And I could not tell that you have adopted his or vice versa, it's a Big compliment on your talent. I read the comment where it is said, you must get recognition by industry. Melissa the year Aashiqui 2 got all awards for songs that year Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani had great songs. Today we re-visit songs of YJHD, and all those awards are silently sitting on some shelf. The love from audience is the main product and industry, awards etc. all are by product..
