My computerised freight management system created what looked like an interesting roster for my first proper running session of 2024 and so, I decided to trace its progress as it progressed Down and then back Up the line. Peckforton Light Railway is a 45mm gauge garden railway which depicts a might-have-been three foot narrow gauge railway which served the copper mines and rural communities along the Peckforton Hills in mid-Cheshire, UK. I bet the first thing whoever is allocated to drive number 14 does is look at the sky and cross his fingers that it doesn't rain ! Excellent video and always a pleasure to see your railway at work.

11:33 - If I didn't know this was SM45 scale I'd have freaked out about the size of that yellowjacket.

I'm not a great lover of sound - it never scales well - but yours was very good indeed. The whole feel of your line is just right. What RC and batteries are you using these days please 🤔🤔💜👍😊✌️

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. I generally use li-ion 18650 cells in 3S packs with BMS protection boards, though some of my smaller locos use 14500 2S packs. I've moved over to Micron Rxs as they are compatible with Deltang equipment so, in effect, I'm still very much a Deltang user.

Always great to see your videos and appreciate the effort you put in to them, especially as I presume you shoot these over more than 1 day judging by how the loaded planned timber changes it's slant... or was that an operational need? Couplings or something similar?

You're the first to spot that the planed timber on the open wagon changes direction. While editing the video, I decided I needed to reshoot the shunting at Peckforton as the original location under the gantry crane was a bit too far away from the action. I also adjusted the underframe on the wagon as I noticed the wheels were misaligned, so when I replaced the wagon for the reshoot I had a 50/50 chance of putting it back the right (or wrong) way round. As you've noticed, I took the wrong option.

Would love a layout in my garden like this, however the price is too much for me. Still I have a great video to watch.

You could always start small and build in potential to expand over the years as funds permit, Mark. It would be a shame to miss out on such an interesting hobby.... 🤔

@@rikbennett9 I could not agree more... as one who is literally just starting out using 45mm, trying this and that getting my feet wet taking one day at a time; you can always come back here for inspiration 😎

Haha, this great. Are you picking up goods from the candle factory down the road?
@rikbennett9
@rikbennett9 3 ай бұрын
Hi Jon. Interesting question. Tempting idea, but the Candle Factory wasn't set up until the 1970s - they even featured as one of the challenges on the Generation Game back then (remember that .... Good Game, Good Game!). Unfortunately, the Factory is now no longer with us.
