I literally just rewatched the England vs Denmark World Cup game so to see this just after is so heartbreaking. The pain she must feel from such an abrupt diagnosis has to be immense. 💔 ugh, wow.

Nice to hear that Rikke is trying to encourage more clubs to do stress ECGs. I also really liked the last few minutes of Jen talking about the difference in Europe vs. NWSL style. Usually, we only hear the perspective from fans which is super biased. Great to hear it from an actual athlete/player who knows what they're talking about

Such a great episode! Hats off to Rikke for being so open. As for NWSL play - one of the reason I am a BayFC fan is because of their possession based playing style. I've said for a long time that the NWSL was missing components of possession based play and I am so so excited to see more of it!

So gutted about Rikke having to retire due to a serious heart condition, she was one hell of a player. It’s good they spotted it when they did. So many footballers male and female have either almost died or have died on the pitch. More needs to be done in heart research and better treatment of athletes. Absolutely agree, all clubs and national teams need the technologies to detect and diagnose issues. Wish Rikki all the best in her retirement in whatever she does, she’s certainly working hard in other areas. Hopefully see her back in football in some capacity as well.
