Great build! Riku is one of those Commanders I've always wanted to build, but always got hung up on what to put in, soo many great choices to use! Excellent video!

Great video! I have a Riku deck and I LOVE playing it. Some cards that have been All-Stars for me: Chancellor of the Forge (absolute stud), Trinket Mage (tutor for Sol Ring, Mana Crypt and/or Skullclamp), Tribute Mage (tutor for Arcane Signet, Lightning Greaves and/or Thought Vessel), Growth Spiral & Manamorphose (unreal value), Hornet Queen & Locust God (tokens), Sneak Attack (mana cost reducer) and Earthcraft (SUPER SUPER pricey, but unbelievably strong in a mana-hungry deck like Riku). Riku is so strong!!

Question!: I’ve been interested in building a Riku deck but it seems slow and when I watch videos of it in action it gets smoked. Does it perform competitively and does it win often?

With the recent hullbreacher ban..what will you sub out?

It's pretty wide open just depends on budget and what you're wanting to do. You could go with something fun like pir's whim. It functions as both ramp and a fun utility card to deal with artifacts, keeping in mind that you can copy it as well and play some politics.

Quick Question!! I'm really interested in building a Riku deck but every time I watch a video to see it in action it gets smoked. It seems really slow and doesnt end up having enough time to use all the mana being built up in the beginning turns. Main thing I'm asking is, is Riku good enough of a commander to play competitively or at least semi competitive? and can/does he win often? Cheers - great vid btw
@BoosterTherapy3 жыл бұрын
Definitely competitive. This build seems to work pretty well

Nice build, but a few things leave me bewildered. No worldly tutor or mystical tutor? Copy those, 2 fetches for 1 mana. No Krosan Grip? It's my favorite instant-speed removal card because it can't be countered. I feel like every red/green deck needs to run Kiki Jiki and Zealous Conscripts, fetchable with an entwined Tooth and Nail or a copied Worldly Tutor. Maybe run more counters? You don't have many ways of stopping opponents from doing things to you like locking you out, limiting searches and drawing, etc.

The first copy would shuffle your library before the second one goes off but worldly tutor is still a great pick for the deck. I feel almost every time krosan grip is just an expensive nature's claim. I've seen Kiki Jikki do work in Riku decks but you kinda have to build your deck around it for it to be really good. Every deck needs more counterspells lol.
