Never ceases to amaze me that DPFs have been around almost 20 years in diesel cars as far as I know and garages still have problems fixing issues. I've also watched no end of guys with fancy scan tools that don't fully understand them. Doesn't bode well for the customer unless of course they come to you.. 👌🏻

Hi Jimmy, I just wanted to pass on my appreciation for your content. My dad Brian passed away today and he was an avid watcher and was always singing your prises as 'the dpf guy'. he pointed me in your direction as we've been having issues with our VW tiguan so I'll be sure to follow along going forward - already learnt so much, keep it up and thanks so much for the efforts x.

You’ve had a year that would break most of us who watch your videos Jimmy. Yet you still take the time to make and upload videos the help educate anyone who watches. When I started watching your channel I didn’t even have a diesel vehicle but knew the information you were giving out invaluable. You’ve increased my knowledge of Euro 5/6 systems to a level where I feel confident working on them. I’ve since bought a Range Rover Sport SDV8 that is Euro 5 and know what to look out for now and feel I could tackle most problems within reason. Also had a neighbour ask if I could look at their Nissan Quashqui since I’m always tinkering on our cars. He was getting a fault so I scanned it and was getting a code for DPF differential sensor. Used my mitivac to check the line from the DPF to the sensor and of course it was blocked. Used your wire and drill trick and bobs your uncle it was all good again!

Another excellent video and repair, Jimmy! So awkward that most garages don't take the time to learn more about DPF issues - would avoid repetitive costs and potential damage to the DPF.

Does DPF regens fail if the glow plugs are faulty ? thought glow plugs are only used on startup ? ive just changed mine on an astra j 2014 2.0 diesel ? reason i ask is that every now again, i get a burning of oil.. not alot but good couple of table spoons

It’s not new but I guess the issue is a lot of guys don’t get the time on the job to learn. Especially in main dealers, they are basically fitters these days. Diagnosing emissions systems and cleaning a DPF aren’t top priority unfortunately. Of course guys can learn off their own back but if there is no incentive to do so, why would they?

Always get the garage to write a statement that the specified problem is fixed before you pay. If the problem is returned you are entitled for a refund or a fix this time for free. If they refuse to pay back you can call the police and file a report on the spot. And yes it is a police matter when someone ripped you off...
@johnburrows828111 минут бұрын
Too easy for garages/mechanics to write fancy reports and charge 99 quid to tell you what you already know. So, this has cost this driver 400 quid plus to be told it has the same fault over and over. Beggars belief
