This is simply beautiful. It brings me back when I used to play this Korsakoff's concerto. Clarinet is pure magic.

@Damis06 Personally I really like the soloist because he plays with a lot of color and tonal variation - and that is just how I like this concerto played. For me, he captured the spirit of this piece - the complaints some others have pale into insignificance. There are other soloists who can turn in a technically flawless performance - yet they can sound a bit boring. That is why - to me - Magnus Holmander is a very special and unique talent.

Sounds great! I don't get all these comments about intonation and tone. If he's the soloist playing with a professional band, i doubt his tone and intonation are anything less then perfect. His tone isn't orchestral, i'll give you that, but it's not BAD. It just sounds like he's a band clarinet. The slight intonation issues are probably due to the recording and the hall it was played it. In my uneducated opinion, great job to the soloist and band!

Clearly not a professional, but a very great student. Squeek happens to the best of us.

@miscellaneousthings its the intonation of the accompanying wind band that's the much bigger problem actually and that may be setting the soloist off at times

Lovely tone, shame about intonation. Happens to the best of us, going into a boiling hot performance venue and ending up ridiculously sharp... Maybe tuning to an oboe's A with the band then adjusting would have helped?

ummmmmm....loads of potential but soloist needs to seriously look at tuning! or get a new clarinet.

oops i play this song in orchestra as oboe and even our 12-year-old soloist is better than him. With all due respect.
