I think the show likes to illustrate that Rimuru wouldn't be able to get anything productive done without Great Sage/Raphael's help! He wouldn't even have known what Hypokte Herbs were without Great Sage lol

Late but Great Sage/Raphael literally does every computation for Rimuru so yeah the show makes it very clear Rimuru is mostly carried by Great Sage/Raphael. Heck you can even call it his personal 'plot armor' skill as a way to make things easier for him. Remember the episode where Raphael basically just made new magic to transport troops? Even in the application of obtaining magic sense in the light novel, without Great Sage it wouldn't have been so quick.

so, funny enough, Yuki does have more complicated motivations you'll learn about over the future arcs, but in the web novel as opposed to the published light novels on which the anime is based, Yuki had none of that. glad you picked up that cause he does have some interesting reasons for his actions at least, unlike in the web novel where he's just a chunibyo edgelord who's evil because the plot demands it
